.tv How should we encourage people to understand .TV

Watch
Given my recent experiences I am aware of three things that are important for everyone concerned with the furtherment of the .tv extension.

1. Most (not all) corporations think .TV is in the same batch of extensions as .cc or .biz or .me - in other words they are not mainstream or important.

2. Less than 5% of Namepros members understand .TV premiums - and nobody in the general public has any idea whatsoever about them.

3. When people finally 'get' .TV they really get .tv and have no problem at all in investing in a .tv name or getting all videocentric.

How do we get the people in number 1 and 2 into the batch known here as 3?

The public is used to seeing millions of parked .COMs with nothing but ads. Give them quality developed .TV sites and slowly the tide could turn...

No one understood dot com until there were millions of developed dot coms.

Agreed on points #1 and #2 ... and I know it has been said for many, many years but the importance and substance of unique, stand-alone development of ".TV's" (serving a common, identifiable purpose!) has never been more true than at present, IMHO. :gl:

.TV is still at infancy. The emerging of more and more developed .TV websites surely will create awareness about the potential of .TV to the general public.

The highly encouraging fact is that the involvement of entertainment and sporting industries. They have well established their online presence using .TV.

Premium .TVs are too risky for me and yes .TV domains are harder to resell. But the diminished visibility and demand has allowed me to pick up some nice keyword domains in the last year I could never have dreamed of in .COM. In the last two months I have five developed .TV sites (and a few .nets). As I look for link partners it is amazing to see the quality of the domains of many larger and much more established sites with PR2-3. I just registered reg fee another exercise-related .TV domain which I will develop in the next couple weeks. Google Adwords' keyword tool indicates the word is searched for 90K times monthly and phrases including the singular version of this word are searched for another 100K times monthly. On SEDO the .NET registrant wants $10,000.

Risks ...

You mentioned ^ that in your other ongoing thread; :gl:
is 1000 usd premium really worth it? ... but the overall advice there seemed to be against registering (and renewing annually) such an expensive (and, thus, risky) ".TV" domain name - if there are no definitive plans for its compelling development or immediate monetization :$: IMHO. :|

I hope thats encourage other people about .tv

Without specific details as to the ".TV" domain name and its reasoning for registration (and hefty annual renewal fees), it would be impossible to serve as an encouragement at this time, in my humble judgement. :red:

I mentioned this on another forum but one challenge I see to video sites is that many internet users still have dial-up connections. Youtube videos, photos and fancy graphics are worthless to a dial-up user because the connection is too slow. And yet with .TV one would expect graphics, pictures and videos...

Today, evening, I am going unleash one of my name, and will be sending you pm tonight. If you want to know.

I just talked to one of the tv company who host shows etc, I met the guy, and shared my name with him, he wants me to call him and discuss more about it if I am interested in putting content on it. I met him randomly at my work and got his business card, so Lets see after I call him.

He said, even if someone would pay him 10k he would not separate himself from this name.

So after evening today, I will share with you all.:gn:

Yes Afghanistan has some problems

I think you still have a large enough market without some of the 3rd world countries or remote areas of the "civilized" world.

Surprisingly there are folks living in the New York City and Toronto, Canada areas who cannot even download a video site (time spent on site 00:00:00) while others living in Guadalajara and Juarez, Mexico and Maracaibo and Caracas, Venezuela apparently have much faster connections (spending a few minutes on average on a site with videos).
