Question about backlinks in expiring and expired domains

Hi there, I'd like to know what is the way of knowing how many backlinks has an expiring or an expired domain and how you evaluate back links quality ,do you use any tool?

I make this question because I was thinking maybe in expiring domain could be fake or poor quality backlinks, or is my assumption wrong?

remember that after domain expires all backlinks can be removed by a former owner or by linking site's admin if they were purchased and will not be paid for anymore.

you can find yourself holding a domain that suddenly got all its backlinks/PR/traffic gone to the toilet in a couple of weeks/months after you caught it on expiring auction or just bought from anyone who has no obligation to keep the links.

for example, when i sell a domain i remove all the links to it from my other sites if any (some of them have thousands of pages indexed by Google and sometimes a selling domain has a link on every page in the footer for domain promotion - it will lose all those lnks).
of course i never promise to keep any after a sale and if asked i always tell the buyer they would be removed.

in short, if you buy a domain because it has many quality backlinks/PR/traffic you need to thoroughly research all the stats to ensure they will keep its value after a change of ownership. and you can still never guarantee they will. so think twice and be prepared for a risky ride..

Thousands of domain names expire every day. Some forgot to renew the domains, some just don't want them anymore. For most people these Expired Domains don't have any value, because they don't know about the Google age factor or PageRank.
