I am really excited to share the most recent .TV Spotlight post with everyone. Michael Berkens, one of the top domain portfolio holders in the world was kind enough to talk with me at length about .TV domains! I think interview went really well and is informative for .TV investors/speculators.

Read the article/interview here.

Fantastic interview! I always love to hear what people have to say about .TV, especially when they are optimistic regarding the extension. I do agree with Michael regarding maturity and that it will take time for .tv to truly take off. That being said, in just 8 months we went from "lucky to see an xxx sale" to xx,xxx sales nearly every week.

It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

:)

I remember some of the domains Michael picked up back in March, he does indeed have a great collection :)

Great interview,

The bit I do not like is this,

"They certainly could go back to a premium price model if they wanted to, there would be nothing stopping them from doing that so I do think it’s a good idea to renew .TV’s as far in advance as possible. Understanding that things could change when that contract gets renegotiated or changes hands completely is something that people need to be aware of."

That bit does worry me from a long term investment business plan.

Any views on what might happen?

You could renew all your domains for 10 years in 2015, that'll possibly put you on the safe side until 2025 ;)

And again, Tuvalu can't afford to loose the .TV popularity the extension has gained since March. Rebuilding the .TV structure with new premium fees or local presence requirements would be the end of the "good times" in Tuvalu land. I don't see any problem if they increase the registration/renewal fees, but anything else would be a very dumb move.

That's just my two cents.

Nice interview puts things in realistic prospective.
I don't feel threatened for any future premium pricing on my current .tv's.

Funny enough, I had thought about that.

It's just that i have rather alot of them, so this could be quite an outlay.

I will have to see what happens between now and 2015. (either prison, or Millionaire)

Thanks for the response everyone!! I was really excited to interview Michael. He's a class act all the way. The interview definitely took a while for me to prepare and transcribe but it was a really great experience and I definitely think it will help continue to grow interest in .TV.
