Hi guys I'm new to domaining and I bought a couple of web domains and posted for sale. Is this email I got real? Or a scam?

Hello!

I represent a rich investor from Dubai. He is interested in buying (mydomain).com.

Please respond with how much you are looking for it. Just specify this price in the subject line.

If you have other names for sale please email me your list with prices.

We got the same mail

We actually got the exact same email. We think that it is to good to be true and can't be legit.

A rich investor from dubai..
Not the best grammar..
No record of the alleged company he works for..

What do you guys think?

..think about it. You both got the same emails on newly regged domains. You can reply for giggles, maybe put in $50k for your price and see. But if you get replies with 'get and appraisal', hit delete and enjoy your day.

When they want to look at your others names, it screams lowballer reseller or appraisal scam. In my opinion. Dont send anyone money, Goodluck

:talk:

typical lead bait at beginning
rich investor from Dubai

which spurs thoughts of selling the name for big bucks

then they try to make it real easy for you
Please respond with how much you are looking for it. Just specify this price in the subject line.

then the grabber

If you have other names for sale please email me your list with prices.

seems now they check how many domains you have before soliciting, to hopefully catch the "newest of the newbies"

by any chance are your names registered at godaddy?

imo...

Sounds fishy. Why would he tell you his client is rich when he could give you a lowball offer and get it cheap.

I had similar one a while back. I started an escrow. Then, there's no response since.
Some email of similar sort asks you to have an appraisal after you agree with the price.

The best thing again- go to escrow.com and initiate an escrow. Have it as seller pays escrow fee. Then, tell the emailer to follow escrow procedure.

I bet you won't hear any response back.

That is 100% scam. It's far from truth. Stay away.

Total scam, I received one a few months ago. Thankfully I read a post about appraisal scams before looking at the email.

Did exactly that.

I did exactly that, but he didnt asked me to get an apprisal. I answered initialy asking for $900, he then replied that he charges 10-15% commision to his client so he suggests that I sell it for $5,000. Thats when the scam alert hit me in the face, so I started and escrow and Im not expecting an answer. That was 2 hours ago

Rule of thumb:

If you are a seller, money should be going INSIDE your wallet. Not outside your wallet.
