Received an e-mail from snapnames with the subject of "boards.com". The content was more or less like any spammer trying not to sound like a spammer:

"I run the brokerage division at SnapNames.com – a leading domain auction & brokerage aftermarket here in the U.S.

We have a registrant that submitted the domain name Boards.com to SnapNames to be brokered or auctioned and I thought your organization might have a unique interest in acquiring the asset.

Please let me know if you have any interest in acquiring the above domain name, or if there is someone else I should be dealing with in your organization, and I will forward further details including the minimum amounts the current registrant will consider and answer any questions you have.

Thank you."

Things must be getting a little tight around snapnames. I don't blame them for trying to drum up some business, but things seem a little desperate. Still didn't offer to pay for leads or anything, though.

yes i received a similar email today, i didn't really think 'desperate' just pro active, i don't begrudge them for trying, however the name being spruiked really didn't match any of my names so i was surprised to be notified of the auction/sale

Strange. I didn't know they had a brokerage division. Is the mail legit, or is it the domain holder playing tricks ?

The e-mail header is pretty convoluted. Probably fake. Not worth spending the time to find out.
