PA Vietnam says about 60 percent of the 10,000 websites with the “.vn” domain that were hacked on Sunday morning are back online.
http://www.thanhniennews.com/education/?catid=4&newsid=40717According to Huynh Viet Phuong, director of PA Vietnam, only about 2,000 domestic and international domains that were controlled from PA Vietnam’s main domain name systems (DNS) actually crashed.
Other affected domains had been bought for trading purpose and were inactive or linked to a different location.
“Companies have obviously been affected but we guarantee that the hosting data is safe,” Phuong said.
“Customers can log in to their domain’s homepage and direct the domain to IP (internet protocol) hosting without using PA Vietnam’s DNS.”
Another official of PA Vietnam, the country’s second biggest provider of hosting services, said the company was trying to switch over all its DNS host computers.
The official confirmed that PA Vietnam had not yet regained control over its affected websites pavietnam.com, pavietnam.net and 5giay.com.
The company hopes to fix all domestic domains by early today with new DNS.
Restoring inter-national domains may take longer.
PA Vietnam, affiliated with the Ministry of Information and Communication’s National Domain Center, hosts 9,738 active domains, accounting for 14.39 percent of the domestic market.
