Just stumbled on this thread on ebay- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Domain-name-Nasty-com_W0QQitemZ9740930393QQcategoryZ11153QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Appears that this name will be one of the biggest sales of the year, or do you reckon its a shill-bidding extravaganza?
It is a very nice name indeed, but I don't think I've seen a domain go for this on ebay before...
Anyone here involved?

I was the first bidder, with a max bid of $10, hahaha.

It is unusual to see serious auctions on Ebay, but I guess we'll find out if it's posted on DNJournal.com. It ended just shy of $180,000. The winning bidder had a 0 feedback though, so it looks doubtful.

Pretty nice sale, for buyer and seller. I imagine this will be a great brand for someone's adult site.

I'm somewhat interested in seeing eBay as the venue of choice for a domain of this magnitude. It started with no reserve, which seems a little risky for the seller, but it did achieve a good price. Could we see more of these in the future?

It was NR, but the seller did state that he was in prior negotiations and reserved the right to end the auction if he came to an agreement with another buyer. I don't know what the legalities of that is, but no one seems to care about legally binding contracts online. It's a shame really...

He had told me in email before I placed the first bid that he had offers of about $180,000, which is what the domain ended at, so I'm not sure if the bidding was legit or not, but we'll see.

Definitely a nice name. I was hoping I'd get it for $10, hahaa.

I think the seller contacted end-users and notified them of the auction or maybe he had several offers and wanted them to compete.

That way it was Bid On It or Lose It.

I hadn't thought of that. That's a pretty good strategy if you have more than one party making offers on a name.
