Is there any risk having domain registrar act as agency for a gTLD

I really liked a gTLD and wanted to register but that country has some restrictions and require some info which I don't have. My registrar has another option .

Only Domains will act as my agent for gTLD (recommended)

By choosing us as your Agency, all contact details will be submitted to the registry using the agency profile and will not indicate your own information.

Is it safe to go ahead and get the domain. If that hits the market and become a success can they just grab it because I do not exist for the registry?

.Asia is the only gTLD that somewhat matches your description. Are you sure you aren't referring to a ccTLD?

As long as the registrar acting as your agent is legit, you have nothing to worry about. I recommend that you use 101domain.com as your registrar and agent for the domain. They are an established company and agent service that you can trust.

If your company becomes a huge success, you can transfer your domain to a company like CSC or MarkMonitor to act as your agent.

I wouldn't take the risk if the site has the potential to be huge - soon as I hits the media you know that country will take it back or as for some compensation.

if you are looking at a little site that will run under the radar, go for it.

That would be pretty unlikely unless the registrant was doing something that was against the rules for that particular country.

If you were concerned about it, you could use a ccTLD that already has hugely successful businesses using it without any problems from the registry: .co, .me, .ly, .io, etc.
