opinion What's Your Favorite Domain Name That You Own?

Spaceship Spaceship
What is your favorite domain name from your own domain name portfolio? Every single domain investor has a personal favorite, which isn’t necessarily their best domain name, or their most valuable. It’s always a personal choice, which is what makes this question extremely interesting.

We asked four prominent domainers:

What's Your Favorite Domain Name That You Own?

Joe Styler (@Joe Styler), Domain Investor & Aftermarket Product Manager at GoDaddy
Hard question. Probably TheaterTickets.com because I have a real site on it selling tickets nationwide and it has been a project I’ve put a lot into. For the new TLDs, I like Nevada.company. I think it has a lot of potential for building a business around incorporation in Nevada. And I would be remiss to leave out my wife and kids' domain names I own.

Andrew Rosener (@SeafoodMan), CEO of Media Options Domain Brokerage
Easily MJ.com! It is the single best domain for the legal marijuana industry and also an incredible two-letter .com with many other meanings and opportunities to be sold. After MJ.com, it would probably be Harbor.com.

Mike Mann (@Mike Mann), Owner of DomainMarket.com
HappyBirthday.com, it’s the most valuable probably.

James Booth (@BoothDomains), Owner of BQDN.com Domain Brokerage
This is a hard choice. My top three names would be YEA.com, RCC.com, and GMA.com, but if I had to pick one, it would be GMA.com. I know this name is no good for the Asian markets, but it is as good as it gets for the Western market.

If you’re from the US, people think “Good Morning America” or here in the Philippines, GMA is the biggest TV broadcaster. It has a huge 1.25 million exact monthly searches, a 25,000 overture, and a 500,000 Alexa rank. It was also acquired from a huge global company called Muller Martini.

We also opened this question to the NamePros community, and here are some of the responses that we got.

@Pierre Barnard
I would have to say Swimsu.it. For me, it is a great example of a "domain hack" done right and also doubles as a good brandable domain for an online shop.

@Fuadiansyah
Vacasio.com. Travelling/tourism business is the fastest growing industry in my country right now. If I have enough money to start a travel business, I'll name it this as the brand.

@.NJ
Kevs.com. I couldn't get Kevin.com at the time, but I was lucky enough to snag this one. You would have thought I had hit the lottery if you saw me when I won it in auction! I had many offers in the past but letting this one go is not easy.

@techname
PublicImage.com. I love this name; it just has a great ring to it. It could be used for a wide variety of businesses, but especially for a PR, modeling, or marketing agency. It would also make a good name for a fashion brand.

@internext
Internext.com is my favorite. I bought it directly from XO Communications ages ago. I don’t really remember exactly when, but I use it as my online identity primarily and business name. I like how it implies forward thinking on the internet. Staying informed and knowing or providing what is next in the scheme of things.

@rivey001
My favorite domain I own is: nyam.com. One of my favorite things to do is cooking and I do plan to one day do something with that (website, restaurant, etc.). So from the start of domaining, I've always wanted a food-related domain name, and I believe "nyam" fits the bill.

Nyam is a one-word domain name that means, "to eat" and it's widely used throughout Jamaica (my birth country), Asia, and Africa. And there are other obvious non-personal reasons why the name is a favorite.

@BostonDomainer
OpenNetwork.com. Not my best but definitely my favorite as a big open-source fan. There's a bit of a story behind this one. I bought it in 2009. I was in the US Army back then stationed in Afghanistan. I remember I was out on a mission and got back on base just in time to get my bid in during the auction. Then I had to convince Sedo that I was not a scammer since my IP address was coming from Afghanistan to make payment.

Great name @TERADOMAIN! I can't help but think that adding an "s" (electriccars.com) would probably add an extra "0" to the asking price :)

Hahahha. Thanks. I tried to contact both owners . Asking price for extra "s" is only good for end user or even end user may think twice (may be) .

I am happy with what I have. Hahhhaa .

Thanks

Except for Sound.com domain, most are not appealing. This might be one reason domaining is dead.

The ones in your signature are just terrible. I would take them off your hands if you pay me just 20 bucks.
