Welcome to another edition of Top Topics, giving you a look at some of the most interesting and popular discussions of the week. In this issue, there’s one piece of news in particular that you’ll find fascinating if you follow the Chinese market. An interview has been released with one of the most successful investors in China, who recently sold 885.com and ZC.com for a combined $2MM. The interview is worth looking at, as a lot of topics are discussed within it.

Elsewhere, there has been the story of a first ever domain sale and a report of one community member’s first year in domain investing.

I Sold My First Domain For a Profit

A community member this week shared the news of his first domain name sale after three months of being a domain investor. The sale, which happened at marketplace Undeveloped.com, was a $2,500 deal from a $20 GoDaddy Closeout domain. Although the name hasn’t been revealed, we are told that it is a two word English brandable .COM.

This domain transaction took place just days after the seller considered quitting domain investing, three months after his first investment.

Would You Pay for Domain Lists?

Every day, thousands of us search through lists of expired and marketplace domains, a task that can take many hours to complete.

@Shane Bellone has asked for the community’s opinion on whether anyone would pay for a list of 250 top domain names, sent via email every day. The domains, chosen from pending delete and auctions, would be available to any subscribers.

Is this an idea that you would pay for? Have your say in the discussion.

My First Year Has Come To an End

Exactly a year ago, @DoumB21 came across a DomainSherpa video on YouTube. Having previously had no idea about the domain market, Dominic instantly fell in love with the concept of brandable domains.

Giving himself a $200 budget, Dominic registered many brandable .COM domains and submitted them to BrandBucket, and subsequently some of the names were approved for the marketplace.

At the same time, he decided to invest in four-letter .COMs with a new budget of $2,000. Since then, Dominic has been dealing mostly in four-letter .COMs.

Read Dominic’s full and frank story to see, in detail, what happened in his first year, what his good moves were and what his bad moves were.
