I Sold a Domain Name for $8,000 Within 24 Hours

Some domain names can sit in our portfolios for several years before one person even shows an interest, whereas some names can be sold within days or even hours for a tidy profit.

This week, an investor shared their story of acquiring a two-word .COM domain name for $510. After some quick outbound action, the domainer agreed to a deal of $8,000 which was almost immediately closed via DAN.com.

The same investor has also shared their sales and purchases for January 2020, with five sales and a total profit of between $8,000 and $9,000. This is a strong start to the year!

Turning $10,000 Into $1 Million

This is not a story of how an investor flipped a $10,000 name for $1 million. This is also does not reveal a secret to getting rich quickly. What this discussion does is introduce the concept of prediction or projection models in domain investing.

We have seen investors such as @Nikul Sanghvi thrive with a data-centric approach to domaining, so why not follow suit by creating your own model to produce realistic goals and targets?

Let's Talk Domain Pricing

The beginning of a new year is an opportune time to reflect on your overall domaining strategy, and to set targets for the year ahead. Here, an investor has shared that they are looking to be more agressive with their domain pricing in 2020, which could see fewer sales but higher overall revenue.

The New Uniregistry Landers

Uniregistry's market has been one of the prime sales venues for domain names for the past several years. Thanks to its relative simplicity, extensive features, and access to Uniregistry's brokers, domain investors have opted to use the service en masse.

Now, Uniregistry looks to have launched a new style of landing page, as noted by an investor in this discussion. The new style, with a single offer field, streamlines the previous landing pages and reduces on-page clutter. Will you be using the new style of pages?

The Next Big Keyword?

Trend domainers, what do you think is the next big keyword? In the past few years, we have seen the emergence of "Crypto" and "CBD" keywords or phrases that have produced some impressive sales and some profitable flips.

Are you willing to share your predictions for the next big keyword with other investors in the industry?

Interesting scoop re Brent Oxley and Create, @James Iles. It has to be almost the perfect name for a website development product.

I somehow had missed @Silentptnr thread on domain pricing, so just went off to see what is there now! Not many votes yet in poll, but will be interesting to see how many vote raising, lowering or keeping the same.

Thanks as always for the great roundup each week, James. I find the emerging keywords thread interesting.
