AOL Bought My Domain Name

After announcing the creation of a new company called Oath, which will be created by merging Yahoo! and AOL, Verizon purchased the Oath.com domain name. They have also subsequently acquired related "Oath" domain names in different extensions.

This week, a domainer has revealed that Oath purchased their domain name, OurOath.com. Despite not revealing the purchase price, it's interesting to note this sale nonetheless.

A Petition to Remove Restrictions from .US Domains

In order to register a .US domain, you must be a US citizen, a permanent United States resident, or a US entity. To ensure that these requirements are met, Neustar frequently conducts "spot checks" on registrant information, according to Wikipedia.

A domain investor has revealed this week that they have created a petition to remove these restrictions from .US domain names, with a goal of achieving 100,000 signatures. Whilst the petition only has two signatures as of writing, it has sparked an interesting debate regarding restrictions on ccTLD extensions.

Has Google Already Killed Geo Domain Names?
