sales Dave Evanson Announces the Sale of Kush.com for $500,000

Spaceship Spaceship
Sedo domain broker @Dave Evanson announced his latest six-figure sale this afternoon, confirming on social media that he had brokered the sale of Kush.com for $500,000. The sale is among the top ten four-letter .COM sales of the past five years, joining the likes of Give.com, another domain that Dave brokered for $500,000.

Kush is a strain of cannabis that comes from the Hindu Kush mountains, producing heavy and sedative effects. It's also a powerful brand name for the cannabis industry, with domains such as Kush.org recently selling for five-figures.

According to NameBio, this sale ranks as @Sedo's joint-second largest sale of 2018, behind Christian.com on $600,000 and joining DAX.com on $500,000. If the details are submitted to DNJournal, it will rank as the site's joint-twelfth largest sale of 2018 so far.

The domain, previously registered to a Gregory Kush of Florida based on historic WHOIS listings at DomainIQ, is currently registered under privacy protection at GoDaddy. There are currently no clues as to who the buyer could be, but a Crunchbase search shows one possible candidate.

Kush Supply Co, formerly known as Kush Bottles, was founded in 2010 and has raised a total of $42 million in 2018 after going public in 2016. The company currently uses KushSupplyCo.com.

Congratulations to Dave and Sedo on the sale!

I dont understand this sail.
I get that KUSH is a 4L.

I get that it might be slang for marijuana? But do you really really really think that 500,000$ makes sense?

jets.com sold for only 350k... THATs the one worth 1 mil lol.

KUSh isn't even the legit word for marijuana. Isn't Weed better? And no one can see Weed.com going for 500k.

Ride.com, team.com, text.com all for only 300k...

what is KUSH?

Can you really make up 500,000$ in revenue with marijuana?

I don't get how this sail happened. Did the seller just have half a mil in mind? Or did he develop that price after realizing who the buyer was?

And how did he know it would even reach such a stupendous price without the buyer flaking.. .

so i guess that means that Coin.com should be worth like 10 mil because it now stands for crypto :D
In my opinion, coin is a better word than crypto

Encouraging to see a cannabis niche sell for such a great price

Cannabis domains seem to be the new crypto. Crypto related sales have slowed down a bit but at the same time, the interest in cannabis-themed domains has increased significantly in the past 2-3 months.

mj, pot, bud, weed, dope, grass and herb.com would all be better imo. Also possibly ganja, dank, blaze, smoke, gas, jive, chronic, reefer, skunk and buddha.com
Gives me some confidence for my HQHerb dotcom. Its only 2 letters more. I'd take $100k rn haha.

Dude...like, I would have...I mean, like really....ummmm, totally thought, or was thinking...I mean....you see what I am saying?

Seriously...great sale but unless I needed a new car or house, I would have hung on a couple more years until more states legalized it and pushed for a mil.
I totally agree. This buyer got a bargain.

Kush is a strain of cannabis, not a nickname (although I have no doubt people will refer to it in a nickname kinda way). So it is a very legit word in refrence to cannabis.

Furthermore, Kush is the strain grown by GW Pharma for legally licences commercial trial of medical cannabis.

My mindset might be different than most. But I see Kush.com as being worth it and then some.

Its one of the most popular, shortest words associated with Marijuana other than Weed. It is easy to spell, memorable and makes for a better brand than Weed.

This is an emerging industry where there will be many players in the field making hundreds of millions to billions of dollars a year in revenue, and this doubles as both a brand identity, and a category defining term for their industry.

A short, memorable brandable domain, that is already a "household name" to its target audience. This domain will completely transform a business financially and every marketing dollar they spend, their competitors will probably have to spend $25 for equal impact and conversion, and this is before even building the name recognition of the brand with the target consumer. We're talking just about link URL conversion, print marketing coverage, and search engine ad conversion.

A domain like this will pay dividends each year exceeding the 500k easily if utilized correctly by the company who bought it.

Watch this domain, see who uses it, and lets watch their revenue growth. I promise you if they link it with a good team and a good website, they are going to be rolling in money, in large part because of this domain.

Kush might just be the best/most marketable brand domain we see in the entire industry.

A half a million dollars is freakin sweet!! Awesome sell!!!

The buyer, I think they over paid for it, but, they had to, the name will make them some millions, so excellent for both buyer and seller IMO

I had 6-figure offers on the table back in the day and I know Greg wanted at least a million, which I agreed, and is worth double that today

Thank you for taking the time to share the story. Since learning of the sale and for how much, I have talked to several 'money men' I know...it seems I could have come up with the half mil to get the name without too much trouble. Everyone agreed they would have held the name until a 1.25 mil offer or mire came in whether it took 2 months or 5 years.

Maybe the daughter had plenty of assets from the estate and didn't care for how much it was truly worth...maybe she will come across this thread one day and let us know her thinking.
