sales Dave Evanson Announces the Sale of Kush.com for $500,000

Spaceship Spaceship
Sedo domain broker @Dave Evanson announced his latest six-figure sale this afternoon, confirming on social media that he had brokered the sale of Kush.com for $500,000. The sale is among the top ten four-letter .COM sales of the past five years, joining the likes of Give.com, another domain that Dave brokered for $500,000.

Kush is a strain of cannabis that comes from the Hindu Kush mountains, producing heavy and sedative effects. It's also a powerful brand name for the cannabis industry, with domains such as Kush.org recently selling for five-figures.

According to NameBio, this sale ranks as @Sedo's joint-second largest sale of 2018, behind Christian.com on $600,000 and joining DAX.com on $500,000. If the details are submitted to DNJournal, it will rank as the site's joint-twelfth largest sale of 2018 so far.

The domain, previously registered to a Gregory Kush of Florida based on historic WHOIS listings at DomainIQ, is currently registered under privacy protection at GoDaddy. There are currently no clues as to who the buyer could be, but a Crunchbase search shows one possible candidate.

Kush Supply Co, formerly known as Kush Bottles, was founded in 2010 and has raised a total of $42 million in 2018 after going public in 2016. The company currently uses KushSupplyCo.com.

Congratulations to Dave and Sedo on the sale!

Dude...like, I would have...I mean, like really....ummmm, totally thought, or was thinking...I mean....you see what I am saying?

Seriously...great sale but unless I needed a new car or house, I would have hung on a couple more years until more states legalized it and pushed for a mil.

Disagree. Its not an amazing word. It's good but not amazing. Another problem with marijuana is there's so many different ways to call it: weed, marijuana , maryjane, kush, ganja, etc

Kush is in slow decline in search over the years, probably related to less usage overall: https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=today 5-y&geo=US&q=Kush check Google trends past 5-8 years

Its not "the" word that people use to refer to marijuana. Its not the one I would spend half a million on for a website. I do like it being 4 letters but its declining usage by people is a scary proposition. The words cannabis, marijuana, and weed are used to refer to this drug way more than kush

Then again I dont have half a million to spend on a domain name lol

I didn't say it was amazing...awesome is more like it. Really? You don't think a 4L .com that refers in the most brief way possible to the fastest growing cash crop in America is amazingly awesome...well, I do. Throw in a national retail chain with thousands of franchised outlets, with dozens of grow operations, doing business under the same, four letter, easy to remember word and you have an empire. Wow...now I am motivated...wondering if the new buyer will take a flip for 750k!!! (going to bank now...) :xf.smile:

mj, pot, bud, weed, dope, grass and herb.com would all be better imo. Also possibly ganja, dank, blaze, smoke, gas, jive, chronic, reefer, skunk and buddha.com

Well, you may be correct...when I have time, I will look at the sales comps for the names you list and we can compare to determine those with best value (herb is a good one, imo).

bird is a better 4 letter. bird.com was sold 200K. this one is overpriced, I think.

Bird is not likely to be a multibillion dollar industry market in the next few years.

You are correct, the original owner was a personal contact of mine that lived pretty close. Greg passed away suddenly in October/November of 2016 and his daughter did not to honor our listing contract, which was on a permanent basis. My best guess is that she googled "domain broker" and simply listed it with Sedo. I had 6-figure offers on the table back in the day and I know Greg wanted at least a million, which I agreed, and is worth double that today.

Buyer got a bargain, sad to see it go for so cheap. Wouldn't be surprised if this was a reseller buy.

The most interesting fact about this listing was that Greg opted to list Kush.com and started transferring all his web assets to Kush.group - His only contingency was to have some of his existing email addresses forwarded to avoid confusion for his existing book of clients, which was insanely big. He was an incredibly successful real estate broker in Florida.

I dont understand this sail.
I get that KUSH is a 4L.

I get that it might be slang for marijuana? But do you really really really think that 500,000$ makes sense?

jets.com sold for only 350k... THATs the one worth 1 mil lol.

KUSh isn't even the legit word for marijuana. Isn't Weed better? And no one can see Weed.com going for 500k.

Ride.com, team.com, text.com all for only 300k...

what is KUSH?

Can you really make up 500,000$ in revenue with marijuana?

I don't get how this sail happened. Did the seller just have half a mil in mind? Or did he develop that price after realizing who the buyer was?

And how did he know it would even reach such a stupendous price without the buyer flaking.. .

so i guess that means that Coin.com should be worth like 10 mil because it now stands for crypto :D

I agree, it was sold too cheap. This is one of the best keywords in a booming multi-billion dollar market.

Yes, but it is a well recognized, SHORT keyword in this niche/emerging multi-$$$$$ market --- and one that was STILL AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE and development. (Two word TLDR;, Supply and Demand.)

As long as the new owners still have sufficient money to development and market the site appropriately, I think it is was likely well worth the price. It might even be considered cheap in the coming years.

UPDATE:
It seems there's a possibility it may not be weed related at all.
