sales Mommy.com Sells for $100,000 at Sedo

Spaceship Spaceship
Sedo’s senior broker Dave Evanson has just confirmed that the one-word domain name Mommy.com has just sold at Sedo. It looks as though this could be a sale brokered by Sedo themselves.

In a post to Dave’s Facebook page just now, he confirmed:
Mommy .com just sold by Sedo for $100,000!! Reminds me when we sold Moms .com in 2013 for $252,000!!

In a subsequent email, Dave told NamePros that the deal was a domain-only deal, which means it is eligible for DNJournal’s sales chart. Dave was kind enough to confirmed the deal did not involve the buyer paying in instalments, after NamePros asked for clarification on this.

The sale of Mommy.com is also included in Sedo’s weekly listings, where it naturally leads the way, ahead of domains such as LegacyLife.com and OWI.com.

Mommy.com is currently under WHOIS protection and shows a fully developed website under the Mommy.com brand. According to the brand’s Facebook page
Mommy.com is a portal meant for modern women who live in a perpetually changing world.

The website includes guides, news and information aimed at moms and has been active for a couple of months, according to Archive.org.

Before selling, the Mommy.com name looks to have hosted a similar website.

It’s refreshing to see a new brand put their faith in a generic one-word .COM domain. The new owner’s obviously see the positive impact that such a domain can have on a brand, and have paid accordingly.

However, it may be wise for the brand to look into acquiring Mummy.com, the British equivalent of Mommy.com. The Mummy.com name is currently owned by DigiMedia, so the price tag is likely to be high.

This six-figure sale of Mommy.com will be the 45th largest sale of the year, according to DNJournal’s charts.

The fact that there are two different spellings may have hindered the retail value.
Yes if i heard the word on the radio here in Australia I would type in the "british" spelling first, mummy for sure.
