Spaceship Spaceship
Singaporean drop-catching registrar Gname has added another 200 shell registrars to its collection, bringing its total to over 500. The 200 companies are named Gname 301 Inc through Gname 500 Inc. More accreditations means more connections to gTLD registrars and a better chance to catch expired domains when they are deleted. Gname last boosted its...

They've gotten really impressively lately. They did a phenomenal job in 2024. They caught names I was certain were going to be caught by DropCatch.

It seems Sav.com is also doing something different. They've been catching some nice names too.

why can't they have a simple system like dropcatch or snapnames, what a complex system, rather lose out on a name than deal with their twisted logic of a system.

what a complex system
Which part is complex?

There's always a slight learning curve when using any service for the first time, but personally, I haven't found this one particularly complicated.

There's a small learning curve when using any service for the first time, but I haven't noticed anything unusually complex about it, personally.
You may disagree with me but i know them & watch it since Q3/Q4 2023 and i know what they can do 😉

Do you mean that they outbid everyone?

Gname and its users have access to inventory at other dropcatching services, too. EDC.com recently went through NameJet/Snapnames, and Gname's users were outbid, if I recall correctly.

Maybe missed 1 or 2 but with another 200 registrars basic will be a new GD but in term of catch

Gname probably has about the same amount as NameJet/Snapnames (Newfold Digital) now.

Dropcatch.com still has more than double that amount at 1,200.

But I was saying that Gname doesn't need to win the drops (except to earn more money) because their users can still bid in Dropcatch.com's auctions through Gname, just like "First" and "Two Two" did at NameJet on behalf of 22.CN (and possibly others). @Acroplex, did those NameJet accounts also represent 4.CN bidders? I don't remember.

why can't they have a simple system like dropcatch or snapnames
In my opinion, the verification processes at Snapnames and Dropcatch are more complicated—and riskier, since they store your government ID—compared to Gname, which simply requires a monetary deposit.

I'm old enough to remember hand-registering domains at the 6:30am drop "gold rush" LOL

Gname appreciates the attention and discussion around our recent expansion.
While we're proud to have surpassed 500 registrar accreditations, we understand that growth alone isn’t everything — user experience, reliability, and transparency are what matter most.

To clarify: Gname serves a global customer base, not limited to any single country or region. We offer a wide range of domain extensions and services designed for international users. Our infrastructure is built to support the needs of both Chinese and overseas markets, which may lead to a different user experience compared to registrars focused solely on one region.

We recognize there’s always room to improve, and we welcome feedback from the NamePros community. Your input helps us enhance our systems and better meet the expectations of users worldwide.

Hello alop,

It's pronounced as "G-name" — just like saying the letter G followed by the word name.
Hope that helps!

I'm referring to the invoice for the domain I backordered and successfully acquired at Gname, not the invoice for adding funds. thanks.

Hello justlife,

Just a quick update — the feature to download invoices by consumption type and recharge type is now live! You can find it in your account center> financial management> invoices, where you’ll be able to filter and download the specific invoices you need more easily.

Let us know if you have any questions or need assistance!

Best regards,

Thank you! it's a great improvement. It’d be better if the invoice showed which domain was bought, just in case we get a bunch of invoices on the same day.
