i probably missed the announcement but seeing Godaddy $11.99 new .info reg fee yesterday in my cart got me shocked a bit.. can anyone still reg .infos @ $1-2 or something reasonable at Godaddy or Name.com/Namecheap is currently the best place to go for .infos with $3.99?

..and "Free .Info with .COM" is still here.. but corresponding .com was taken some 10+ years ago :)

You don't need the corresponding .com to get a free info. Search and add your .info to the cart on the discount code screen.

thanks! :)

never knew of it - always thought free .info would only come with corresponding .com

..but what happenned to Godaddy .info prices anyway? registering .com everytime you need new .info is not good option.. well not always..

Are you saying you get a free .info with any .com (not necessarily corresponding one)? The first time I read this, I thought you were saying you can enter some code to get a free .info without making a purchase, but I guess this is not what you were saying.

I've got most of my recent names with namecheap as someone on one of the forums I read recommended not supporting GD supporting SOPA, so I'd rather not register .coms or .infos with them unless it's cheaper.

If you can't get a free .info without a .com, what is the cheapest place to get .info?

No you were not able to just get a free .info without purchase.

However from personal experience, using certain really cheap coupon codes to register a .com at Godaddy invalidated the free .info.

As I found it updated the .info to regular price in the cart even through I added it as free.

Indeed, but in my experience if the coupon overwrites the free info domain, it reverts to $1.99 most of the time - still a decent price IMHO.

So $1.99 is the best price on .info, even on bulk registrations. I read somewhere about $0.89 in registrations of 6 or more but I guess that deal is over.

I see $1.99 at these other places too:

domainrightnow.com
whonami.com
luckyregister.com

Any recommendations for or against any of these? Mainly concerned about being able to transfer out easily if I don't otherwise like them and also no add-ons required or SPAM or phonecalls trying to upsell me. Otherwise just the best price.

Have not heard of any of them, they look like reseller templates though.

I just did a quick google search and there is a Google Ad for register.com $2 domains (.com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, and .us ) To be honest, I would just stick with Godaddy if you are still able to somehow manage to get them at $1.99

I think the company that sponsors this forum provides $1.99 .infos. ;) ;)

Godaddy charges higher prices when you renew a domain name but at the registration the price is normally normal.

you got coupons for renewals too, so it isn't that much high as some registrars which charge 20 or 30$ for renewal
