.MX Discussion and Showcase

Wow, great news about the re release of .mx domains. I think this has huge potential considering the population in mexico is 100 mil. Those who already have a .com.mx or .org.mx domain can pre register teh same domain in .mx extension. Luckily I registered a few months back these domains, please tell me the best in order please:
gun.com.mx
see.com.mx
ear.com.mx
war.com.mx
won.com.mx
cuentas.com.mx (accounts in spanish)
cesta.com.mx (basket in spanish)
cestas.com.mx (baskets)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
What did this finish up at?

I'm afraid I didn't follow it all the way. Does somebody else know?

But the Whois doesn't seem to have changed as of yet.

The sale of rentacar.mx for $6500 did go through, according to Sedo's latest sales report. So that was a nice one.

New owner has privacy, and the site does not seem to resolve. But surely a big car rental company would not use privacy?

That is a great sale for a .mx. Prices starting to move up here :)
My guess is Avis

I think this is a good sale. I own used cars in this extension and would be satisfied with the same amount. I dont like that .mx domains dont have email address listed in whois so it is difficult to find owners of some similar .mx domains to yours.

Hey guys,

Just browsing i found Bowl.MX and I registered it at dynadot after reading these pages. I have no experience with this extension, it's an English word as you can see but I hope to be a good sell someday. Quite brandable IMO.
BTW, are Mexicans into bowling? :)

EdIT. Just seen bowl.us lying around at sedo with no offer at high xxx, I know .us is is a huge downswing but still, what do you think about my domain? BTW, Bowl.cc is up for grabs and .asia if anyone is interested.

Cheers!

A quick search shows a few bowling alleys in Mexico
Adwords shows about 300,000 local monthly searches for " bowl " but they mostly refer to the Super Bowl.

Its a longshot IMO.

Thanks zapdaddy.

We'll see, I have no intention of developing it, at least not now, mostly for a quick flip I guess if I find someone.

Cheers.

Best of luck. Keep us updated if you make the flip. :)

Well .mx domainers out there.
Anyone making any acquisitions or sales out there or am I the only one left?

Seems like someone is snapping JuegosDeMarioBros domain. Check out also JuegosDeMarioBros.de , JuegosDeMarioBros.co and JuegosDeMarioBros.com . All are developed as similar arcade site.

i have noticed this but it seems to me like a grey area in terms of trademark

I think it's quite outright trademark infringement. However, Nintendo (the copyright holder in this case) does not seem to be actively pursuing IP cases. That's one reason Nintendo is so loved, unlike Sony, for example.

My best .mx would be toy[.]mx, estimated at $36,000 by epik and $13,000 by estibot.

What do you think about it? I'm planning to keep it for a while unless a very good offer comes along. Any ideas what dictionary LLL .mx are going for?

I saw toy available for a couple weeks an didn't grab it.
The high reg fee keeps me away, not because I can't afford it,
Simply because who knows if it's worth it. The plural is better IMO

Best of luck anyway

Also don't not base your domains value on estibot or valuates system!

I agree with you on both points BD! i.e. plural would be more valuable and that the worth of .mx domains is still largely unknown. I think at the moment it's still very much down to one's own opinion (as i think is the case for .xxx domains). Personally I do see a future for .mx domains. My reasoning is that .com.mx is slowly but surely getting established (if you go to mexico you will see loads of ads with .com.mx websites, plus some .com.mx domains have sold for a few thousands)...and considering mankind's tendency to be lazy, I predict that .mx will take over .com.mx in a few years because it s shorter and much easier to type. That being said, I only own a couple of .mx domains at the moment - will wait till I'm more sure of .mx's potential before I invest in more.

I just came back from a trip to mexico and noticed that there are way more .mx than I saw on my last trip. More companies are starting to pick them up everyday. The progression away from .com.mx is slow but it is happening.

Also there are a few small groups doing backorder service and catching .mx drops now and re selling them directly to the end users in Mexico. Another positive step IMO

That is certainly good news! If only the registry could lower registration prices, I am sure it would get even more popular.
