I am going to tell you about a gigantic project going on in Abu Dhabi called Reem Island. This project is so huge 3 of the largest developers in the UAE(Tamouh, Sorouh, and Reem Investments) are building it. It is even bigger than The Pearl Qatar project that appeared in this forum last June.

- Reem Island is a combined residential, commercial and business project being built on a natural island off the coast of Abu Dhabi City and will be directly connected to Abu Dhabi City by a number of bridges. The location of Reem Island is only 20 minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport.

- Reem Island will accomodate and estimated 280,000 residents. Some estimates go as high as 350,000!!

- Reem Island will contain Numerous hotels, resorts, beaches, spas, shopping malls, restaurants, medical clinics, many, many businesses, a 27 hole golf course, etc., etc.

- Just one of the business projects on Reem Island is Addax Port. By itself Addax is a massive port project which will contain 5 huge towers: an office tower and 4 other residential towers. And this is just one "small" part of Reem Island.

- Of course there will be tons of luxury condos and homes and villas, etc. to accomodate the huge number of residents of Reem Island.

- Reem Island will eventually be the "center" of Abu Dhabi which is the Richest of all the Emirates. Even richer than Dubai.

- Do a google search to get lots more info on Reem Island and here are a few sites to get you started: ReemIsland.com, AddaxPort.com, ReemInvestments.com. There are many more.

- There are still many good names left. I picked up:

ReemIslandProperties.com

ReemProperties.com

...but there are still many more left. As a domainer if you miss out on Reem Island you will never forgive yourself. Good luck and I hope this post was of help to you.

There's loads of good names available that are ideal for development purposes but maybe don't get much type in traffic and good ones still drop every day.

I was just watching that on TV last night - not good at all for the long-term growth of the property market, its really hard to regain peoples trust when things like that have gone on....especially with the British as many of them have already been burned with some of the spanish property/timeshare scams that went on.

They really need to clean up their act over there... pronto.

Go figure...Bounce a $1000 check in Dubai and go to jail but you can sell property that's not built on time and then get away with not giving the buyers a refund when they don't deliver, WTH

Here's another article that sounds a bit scary, who knows what will happen with that extension next, they seem to change their minds alot over there, in today - out tommorow !!

I haven't registered any .ae -- yet. If I find .ae domains that I want, they will be registered with a development plan behind the domain. Original logos, etc. will be implemented at once and I would never park any .ae domains.

Funny thing, I have been watching the domain name casino.ae on Rick Latona's email list. I saw it priced at $93K yesterday. Aren't casinos outlawed in the UAE?

Yeah, parking sounds like a huge risk at the moment, yup, no casinos in the UAE...maybe that will change one day but I doubt it.

--- hmmm, I just noticed that visitabudhabi.com is no longer listed for sale on sedo and now points to the .ae - If this sold I bet it was a pretty good one, anybody know anything more about it ?

Most other places are 80-100

Remember .ae has been out for a year and lots of names have been searched, but its still early..

I have, but thats irelevant, its better than "cheapest"

And it "IS" cheap to some people, maybe not us, but some folk dont need to watch the $$ like we do lol
