A regular user, but a newbie to domains

that's what i'm here for.

to learn more about domains... ~

if there is a question i would like to ask, it would have to be something like this...

Say, i wanted to set-up my own webpage.
Everything is set, so now, i only need a domain name.
(I know people can connect through IP addressess, but domains makes them remember my site easier...)

Do i have to pay to have my own domain name?
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/welcome-center/88027-a-regular-user-but-newbie-domains.html
Or is it... i need to register/apply for a domain name, but do i have to pay for it?

Or i can just create my own domain right from the start?
(now that i think about it... i don't think it's possible at all...)

Sorry, for this newbie questions. I may understand how it works (somewhat), but there are some questions left in my mind. (like this)

Yes, you would have to pay for every name you want to register. The price ranges from about $3.99 - $25.00 per year (for the most common extensions), but it depends on the registrar where you're registering the name with. However, there are also some web hosts who will give you a free name with a hosting plan with them. The extremely low priced registrars I'd avoid, as they often charge low prices but the support and services are poor. I'd recommend going with the following registrars:

(No particular order)

You can also register names here at NamePros for about 575 NP$ for most extensions or 300 NP$ for .info. You can here, http://www.namepros.com/domainreg.php

Here's a list of reviews for a lot of registrars that you could check out as well, http://namepros.com/registerindex.php?

Not exactly sure what you're trying to ask here?

You can't learn without asking, and there's no such thing as a "stupid question". The only stupid question is the one not asked, so ask away. We're more than happy to help you. I wish you the very best of luck!

thank you for those who replied to my question(s)!

your replies are very informative. It was just the kind of answers that i was looking for.

i still have lots more, but i think they are common and have been answered already so i'll just go dig up to them.

and one more thing (no, it does not matter anyway)
i am definite that this particular forum is male-dominated...
so i was wondering if there are females like me staying here?
