Just joined a couple of days ago after reading these forums for a while. I think I first found Namepros through one of the stories about registrars cherry picking deleted domains.
I'm not a domainer but have collected a small stable of domains over the years, using all the wrong reasons (sounds cool, interesting word, matches a personal interest (mostly Mopar cars), politically toothsome); not much value there. I also hearkened to Godaddy's "Golf Course Chaos" commercial and bought a couple of 'phrase' domains (dot coms at least, and not through Godaddy) that seemed to click. Just did that again today, darn it... its addicting.
A number of the domains are used for email, and a couple for personal websites with a couple more planned; none are 'monetized'.
After reading here its very clear I didn't pick good salable or income earning names, but I still like them and this seems a great place to learn how to make them at least pay for their own renewals.
So thanks for the knowledge already gained, and that still to come.

My wife has done a great job with her domain and site (I'll claim credit for pushing her to register her favored name many years ago); not making money but very useful to her. Mine not so much; too darn busy at work lately, so it really is mostly email usage for now.
We have ideas for developing four of the currently parked domains and have started offline work on the design, though until now its been with an eye on "interesting and/or neat" rather than earning some coin off of them. Until now
