Question re: updating images?

Hi

this may seem like a basic question to most of you...

i have created a very basic site for a client and we have updated some of the photos on the site (using the file names of the old photos. (eg photo1.jpg is replaced by a newer photo1.jpg) , the client states that when he returned to the site after the new images were uploaded he could see the old images not the new ones?
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/website-development/85706-question-re-updating-images.html

this implies that his browser (old IE) is storing the images viewed? Is that right? and if so is there a way to get the browser to load new images (even though they have the same names as the old ones?) I have to say that this has not happened to me and I wounder whether it is a problem with an old version of IE or with this cleint? assistance would be useful he is breaking my balls!!

Images

Heya,

I have seen some strange behaviors with images in my time. I would first start by clearing the cache from within your web browser. If this doesnt do the trick, I have seen where the web server actually caches an image depending on its setup and how it serves the pages. Are these images dynamic images that are being implemented from a database? If not you can always just rename the file from say image.jpg to imagenew.jpg and it should force the right image to display because there is no record of that file name.
