It is so annoying, updates come out for your phpBB forum and you have all those Mods installed and the last thing you want to do is spend maybe up to a couple hours updating the site.

Let me tell you...it's WORTH it.

My forum was maliciously tampered with due to a hole in my version of phpBB that allowed someone to enter my administration and seriously mess up my site. I spent about 12 hours working on it to get it back and it's still not as good as it was.

Trust me, learn from MY mistake. Spend the time and update your forum.

i have seen the expoit published online and tested it no my own forum, damn it was so simple, no knowledge required, i patched straight away

Sorry to hear that. How was your forum hacked? The cookie thing?

I am also new to phpBB, It is a big move from InvisionFree to phpBB.
I have just about mastered InvisionFree - Now to phpBB!

The same thing happened with my phpBB... ugh, it stunk. Always remember to upgrade!

Wow, im sorry to hear your forum was messed with. Great tip and I will always keep it in mind when updates come out

The only thing you have to do is keep a list of all the mods you have installed, and then when the time comes to upgrade, it will only take you a few hours of straight modding to get it back up, rather than searching for all the mods you think you may have installed at some point, especially those little various mods.

yeah When I first started with phpbb I had alot of problems with exploits. BUt then again the first forum I had was a 5000 member yahoo cracking site so I guess I should have expected it .
