TabletApp.com....suggestions/ideas please??

Hi all

Just asking for some assistance from the experts here.

I am planning on developing TabletApp.com as its had an increase in traffic and I read that there were 3 billion tablet apps downloaded last year alone!

Instead of just sitting on the name and waiting for a buyer to come along, I thought I would be better off monetizing it and creating an app store with some affiliates

I am not a developer and really don't know much about where to start with this. Some advice is needed please?

1) Can I do it myself and if so, would it be ok to use one of the ecommerce wizard sites??? like BigCommerce, Shopify or Wix for example?

2) Would I be better off getting someone else to do it for me who really knows what they are doing?

3) Would the Apple affiliate program be the best to use? Can you use more than one affiliate? (apple.com/itunes/affiliates/)
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/website-development/743705-tabletapp-com-suggestions-ideas-please.html
Any other affiliate suggestions for this kind of site?

I just want to make it as profitable as possible and need a few answers before I even think about starting?

Any additional advice would really be appreciated?

Thanks all

Giles

First of all why i should go to your website when i can download all my applications from App Store (Android Market, Windows Phone)?

As you know Apple has AppStore application. Probably is the same with Android, Windows...So when you are on your tablet - you can activate the application and start browsing, downloading, review apps.

Do you think that you can compete with Apple, Google, Microsoft?

I'm thinking for other possibilities like blog, forum, guides, app reviews but that already exist. Websites like Wired, Gizmodo... have all this.

If you want to do something successful you will need a lot of money, good team, time and luck.

The thing is a lot of people just search in Google for "tablet apps" and don't always go to the android market or apple app stores

If you do the search for this, you will see apple is not even on the first page in Google

Number 1 is tabletapps.net

and some others are

androidtapp.com
androidtabletapplications.com
androidtablets.net

So that's where you have to aim, I have some good contacts/friends who can do some SEO work for me so that's no problem

Appreciate your comments though, it certainly helps me when planning things

Apple don't care about the first place in Google.

Apple "THINK BIG"

The vision of apple is that "search" will be replaced with "apps".

Why i should search for information of the movies in the Search Engines when i have the best sources like IMDB, RottenTomatoes...

Every "big" website has own application.

People don't have a time to check the first 20 results in Google.

So if you see Windows 8 you will find out what i mean. Apps (programs) for weather, shopping, movies, stock market....

That's right, and Apple can afford to "think big" as you say, its people like us and smaller developers who think about #1 on Google, the Google's, MS, Apple etc dont need to worry about pagerank etc, but small sites like the ones I mention above get the traffic when people search for a certain term

Anyway, appreciate your comments, I dont really want to debate this, just need some ideas

Thanks again Theo

So that's where you have to aim
What are you aiming at? Do those make money are are they just trying to live off ad clicks and affiliates while they build up some PR and traffic to fatten the domain up for sale?

It's a nice domain but there is no guarantee that development effort will be rewarded, beyond the obvious value of indexing and PR.

As far as basic ideas, articles, autoblogs, reviews, affiliates, sell tablets and related accessories.

tabletapps.net is a just blog with a few articles and ads from google. You can create this in a hour (may be less). But if you visit this blog once you will never visit this site again.

Useful information = no.
Updated information = no.
Trusted source = no.
I can keep going....

This kind of site are made only to make money from ads.

This is exactly my point and what I am asking? What is the best way to monetize this domain?

I understand if someone goes to a blog and its full of rubbish they wont go back, will they go back if its got great apps to download and they found what they were looking for?

Is this the best option? Will it it make any money from paid ads?

Is it better to build a decent informational site and get some traffic to it and sell it later on based on the traffic

I need the experts opinions on the best way to "monetize" this domain?

Have you researched the app selling field? Can you get apps to fill your shop and what sort of earnings could you expect from them if they sell? Most apps don't earn for developers, just a few hit apps do.

If people just download apps from a few trusted sources, then possibly their searches are actually for reviews or just trying to find unknown apps, ones for particular things, or user how-to comments. Or in this case apps that are really great on tablets, or development advice for table-suitable apps.

You situation seems to be a regular domainer dilemma:

1. have a great domain name
2. have typein traffic
3 how to monetise?

Where your choices are

A. sell domain
B. sell somewhat beautified domain (indexed, pr, traffic possibly monetised)
C. develop with original content / functionality, either as a standalone business or a more serious beautification

Choice C takes investment of time/money and takes some research and guesswork about prices. Forget domains for a moment and think like a business owner - you would do some market research, make a business plan, then maybe try to find a domain. Not the other way around - this is a real domainer temptation, trying to find a business to match a seductively good domain. If you have domains for the purpose of selling them, imo you need to keep that foremost.

To answer your question, yes you can earn from ads and affiliates, you could try a very basic beautification page to test the waters.
