Link Warning browsing

Hello all!
I was thinking on making a website where users would go to browse the web, it would include a list of dangerous sites which would come from reported sites from the users. When they clicked go, the site would check the database for potential dangers, and if any, it would explain to them, and direct them to the reason of the dangers ( like the why was the site reported) It would also include a top frame with a field to go to another url, this would make sure they were checking the site when browsing somewhere else.

Would this kind of site work?

You might be reinventing the wheel. Many people have Anti-Spyware/Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware/(you get the picture) installed on their browser. The browser is most likely Internet Explorer. When these people search Google, the results have indicators of good or bad beside the individual results.

One thing to note is that people who think that running anti-virus 24/7 is a good thing are the same people who are wary and suspicious of every website. So, it may be a very difficult challenge to try to convince these people to trust a website to tell them which websites are ok.

That being said, if you had the most killer domain that would fit perfectly into this scenario, I would say go for it!

Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

Agree! Well said!

A lot of anti-spyware already does this, but so do alot of ISP's. My own home ISP has this feature, and I have to actually turn it off, because it hits on so many sites (redirects to a warning page where I have to confirm rather I wish to continue to the site or not). The one at my job is even more annoying (works the same), because it is government, and I can still hit a button to continue to the site, but I can't disable it
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/website-development/669570-link-warning-browsing.html

Additionally, as ToryC103 also pointed-out, you're asking people to trust you to decide who they should trust - That is ONE HUGE issue, as it takes a LOT for companies to get that kind of credit/backing/reputation online

But, just should you go for it, I PM'd you 3 or 4 names that are unregistered in .com (not the best in the world, but just did one search of names that came to mind )

Instead creating a website you could create a browser addon. For instance on this page you can see Google Chrome extensions:
https://chrome.google.com/extensions?hl=en-GB

There is a link that says :
Are you a developer?
Publish your extensions

You need a Google account.

I agree. Go the add-on route. It will be less of a headache I would think.
