simple machines forum question

I have just tried to start a smf and it is for idn's (international domain names) idn.me - Index

Problem is that when i tried to list a chinese charcter domain for sale (the first one) instead of the chinese characters being shown it only showed question marks ????

So it's gonna be a bit hard to have a forum about different languages if the forum doesn't show lanuages other than english ?????

This was the last thing i expected ?

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/website-development/638396-simple-machines-forum-question.html
I am hoping perhaps there is place in admin where i can change permissions ???

I only have limited skills but if it's an easy thing to do , maybe all is not lost ?

Thanks in advance !

It's a simple change. Just activate UTF-8 via the admin panel (I believe it's a setting under Forum Maintenance)

That should do the trick. Remember then to have the UTF-8 versions of the different language packs installed.

I found my way to maintenance and the place to click on and change the settings , and also the place to find packages , but how do i get this language pack ??? it seems after i download to my computer i just upload and then go back to the maintenance to activate , i can do all that

I am able to get to here http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php

I found language packs , and turned off my firewall after trying a few times , it has downloaded , i tried the zipfile ,under the heading

file smf_1-1-11_chinese-simplified-utf8 (zipfile) , and i tried to upload it . but the file has a firefox emblem on it ? does that mean i can only do this via firefox browser ?

Because after i tried to upload it said it only supports zip files , gz, bz2 ....... but i downloaded a zip file , it should have worked ???

thanks heaps !, but not there yet

Sorry to hear that.. it might have been a permission error or something, it shouldn't have done that

Anywhoo, thanks a lot for the rep and feel free to contact me in the future if you give installing SMF another go
