How to Outsource Safely on Wordpress

When you choose to outsource development, what can you do to ensure security? My concern is that the person I've outsource to might choose to add code or make other changes that I wouldn't want, and that might not easily be noticed. Or they might just get pissed off one day and delete the site.

What can be done (besides the obvious steps of checking up on who you're hiring) to prevent this?

Any tips to get over this fear would be appreciated, as I desperately need to outsource.

If I am not mistaken you can restrict certain privileges if you add users to your Wordpress, giving you complete control over whomever you hire to do outsourcing.

Hire someone you trust.
Change the passwords to the site & hosting

Do a double outsourcing :-) Hire another PHP developer to verify that the code is completely ok. It should not cost you much as the person only need to manually review the code.

Programmers can still hack Wordpress

Project Managers are not supposed to review code!

I suppose this is one of those hidden costs when you outsource, particularly to low-cost countries.
Thanks for the replies. I think I will just have to struggle along until i find someone who I can trust (and who is also competent!).

Remember to backup before having work done so you can revert easily if there is a problem.
