How Do You Do It? 1 Great Site or Many OK Sites?

I'm curious how you handle your web development?

Do you have one great site which you dedicate all of your time to or do you have many OK sites which you split your time between?

i'd rather have many ok sites to hedge against any problems. it could get quite time consuming though - especially at first!

Frenchiexno1 is an unknown quantity at this point

I was building up a portfolio of quite a lot of 1page info sites and then just harvesting them for the adsense revenue, has been going quite well. However I have switched to one big site now about something I am interest in - finds it focuses me better and pushes me to market and promote one site as opposed to a bit here and there with many. I don't get as many clicks from my main site but I think the potential is there!

Many sites are a good idea if you have the resources/tme to manage them,

if not try 1 or 2 to get you started,

as soon as they start making enough money for you to move onto other sites then go for it.

dont try and get to many sites online at the 1 time.

the problem with lots of OK sites is that it's more time consuming to build links with lots of small sites than with one good content-rich site (more likely to get organic backlinks and accepted into directories + just submitting one site instead of many)...

am I missing something here?

There are lots of small niches that don't have the traffic or ad base to justify a large site. However, in aggregate, they can generate a reasonable income. You may not even need backlinks to rank
