Jack of All Trades or Master of One?

So I started my first LEGITIMATE website (www.mysitememberships.com) on July 11, 2008. It's finished, I just need to work on SEO and driving traffic. I only get like 15 hits a day and I've had only 1 unexpected registration (all the others are friends/etc). Nobody's actually using the site though. Now, I was wondering... Should I concentrate on getting more traffic to this site (like work on more SEO/backlinks/spreading it, etc) or should I leave it and spread my attention elsewhere.

The reason I'm asking this is because I recently purchased a good amount of content which I could use to make various websites (recipes, freebies, etc). Now, would it be worth it to create all of these different sites? I code all my sites from scratch so it would be relatively time intensive. The only expense I would have would be the domain names for those sites, as I can just use my current hosting (since Hostmonster is unmetered).

However, then I run into another problem of SEO and spreading the link for my new sites (if I choose to make them).

So, do you guys suggest I put my full concentration on promoting my original site, or would it be OK to spread myself a little thin and work on a number of sites?

If I should concentrate on driving traffic to my original site, what methods should I be using? I already submitted my site to over 300 web directories, I'm having people bookmark them, but I'm running out of ideas. How else can I promote it? (Like good sites/blogs to send it in to where I might get a small blurb/writeup, etc.)

Thanks!

Im not gonna lie but over half the SEO work in my opinion is in the content and design of a site. So if you master that and can do it quickly you dont have to do any link building or anything like that. I have many mini-sites that i have not promoted in any way but have great content and are search engine optimized. Also these sites earn me anywhere from $1 - $10 a day from affiliate ads and adsense.
