Arrow Promoting a site without a budget
I've got, what I think, is a great idea for a website, one which I think could prove quite popular and I've got a domain and hosting to put it on.

But I can't really afford to promote it, all my allowance is tied up on the actual domain and hosting.

Anyone know a few sure fire ways to promote a site, without spending a cent?

This gets you exposure naturally. Of course it takes time for this to happen. Pay-per-click can really be expensive and I never got good results this way.

Word of mouth is the best way,


You can also try affiliating with other sites. I did this method and had over 500 visitors a day. Unique of course..

I think first step you should do is to choose appropriate and unique domain name to your site. The second step is to make promotion while you are talking on different forums. The third - you should improve your pagerank.
