Wordpress question

For wordpress you need access to a database - right? (wordpress.com does not give access to plugins etc so not counting that). Are there any hosting sites that let you put up a wordpress site for free?

Its just that I have a few domain names I'd like to develop....

Your best bet is just a general free PHP/MySQL host. WordPress.com and other sites running WordPress mu (multi-user) don't let you do that sort of thing. You could try HostGator's 1 cent "trial" month too, which is about as close to free as you can get. There are some coupons for this floating around the net.

Do either of you know a free one you'd recommend. Ideally one I can use with lots of domain names...

Don't bother with free hosting - you get what you pay for... not much. Splurge a few dollars - you can get shared hosting for as little as $5 a month. While shared hosting can be sketchy depending on the company you deal with it's still a far sight better than any free host for what you need.

Dreamhost and Hostgator for example have one-click installs of wordpress. It couldn't be much easier than that.

FriHost looks good as it supports SQL/php. Only need to post 5 posts.

Better get cracking then!

Pommy

Will also look into paid hosting - dont mind paying $5 p m if I can host loads of domains in one account.

Frihost is the only decent " free host " you can find around these days. Even its not really free. you have to post in their forum in return. still it worths.

Dont bother with free hosting.

There are plenty of cheap great hosts. I recommend asmallorange.com as their prices are very good and their support is fast.
