· #1 | | NamePros Regular | Best social networking software? I have been searching for social networking software and scripts for a while now and have come across several but just don't know which one to go with. I have seen Dolphin (which I'm using now but they have some problems there and there isn't much support), Handshakes, phpFox, Drupal, Joomla CB, heard of phpRaven but haven't got to see it yet, and several more. I want to know what is your favorite. I also want to know of any out there that I don't know about, no matter the price. |

| I think that if you're a developer Ning.com will allow you to use their script. It really is one heck of a script in my opinion. If you want to have a community of your own though and you're not much of a developer, you can pay for the Ning premium service and get them to use your URL (they host the site) for about $5. But you'll have to pay about $20/month to have your own ads on (optional)...
It's something I'm considering, 'coz I'm also looking for a great social networking software.
PHPizabi is not bad either. It's a free software, but if you want to add their mods you'll have to buy the mods. I'm also considering this because they have important mods available: addressbook importer & Myspace theme (according to them you'll be able to use Myspace layouts). It's got good reviews all over the web.
Finally, I'm considering Altrasoft's eFriends. Their software is extremely cool, but it's almost $300! I have one fear, and that's regretting it. If it didn't cost that much, I'd buy it this second. |

| Elgg: Open Source Social Networking Software Elgg ( http://elgg.org/).
This is the first open source social networking focused solution I have seen so far. It is still in somehow new (version 0.8 as of Nov. 2007), but it is very promising and it runs under PHP+mySql, so most shared hosting joints will handle it. |

Some leads that you can search for find the good ones
There are bunch of custom coded ones too but you have to make sure before you buy it. |

· #10 | | New Member | PhpFox absolutely sucks. They have a poor customer attiude and there technical support sucks. I will never buy from them again. I had to request a refund given the fact there software is full of bugs ..and is the worst I have ever worked with. I will never buy from them again! |

· #12 | | New Member | Phpfox.. Look at their forum and you can see their active community.. Cost a lot but if you've already have a ready audience, 299 usd will feel like nothing.. Phpfox 1.6 STABLE is coming up soon and its up for hot grabs |
