| Traffic valuation question
I would appreciate your thoughts on this question.
On a developed site devoted to major league baseball, how much should an impression be worth (just a general estimate is fine). And on portions of the site where the user is browsing info on a particular team, would the impression be of any more or less value?

Well its hard to tell you by what you have said. Its about traffic that that page gets. where would the ad be placed? if in the top 1/3 of the page it would be more than at the bottom of the page.
And also its all a matter of if you want to sell 1,000, 5,000 or 10,000 ad impressions at a time.
As you asked for a general estimate its hard to say without knowing more.

| Well, the site is still being built. But I have some prime real estate in the banner that I would like to sell. I don't know the exact dimensions, but it's about 500px wide by 150 px high.
I'd be willing to sell in any increment over 1,000 so let's just say 10,000 for argument's sake. | |

| Right well. Its still rather hard to say how much I would see it for as I still do not have all the info but lets just say you was getting 10,000 unique hits a month. As your site is in a niche you could sell the space at lets say $50 - $100 per 10,000 impressions.
But then its about postion, where it will be on the page. Will the user be able to ciew it etc? Loads of factorss.

| Well I guess I do have a follow up question.
The value you give is for one ad on the site and gives a value of about $75 per 10,000 impressions.
I've seen a few figures where the expected monetization is at least $100 per 10,000 impressions or more if the traffic is of a focused variety. Even at sedo I am making over $200 per 10,000 impressions and that's after they've taken their cut.
So I guess what I am looking for is not just the price of selling one ad on the page to somebody but how much I should be targeting in terms of total monetization of the traffic through google ads, selling banners, setting up affiliate links etc.
I hope that makes sense. | |
