I've recently acquired a nice domain that I want to use to develop a medieval RPG game site with. I've looked around briefly for a script, but there seems to be a lot of similar looking, possibly knock-off scripts out there. I'm just wondering if anyone has experience or knowledge in this area and knows what would be the best script to use? I'm looking for something that is well coded and easy to setup and get going out-of-the-box. I'll probably spend some time to customize a few things, but essentially, I don't want to be doing a whole lot.
only one I can really remember being any good is the Promisance script, and not the original one, there are several different ones out. They are all free if you can track them down.. one of them might work for you. I believe there are one or two paid ones out there that I've seen. Also look for one called Legend of the Red(green) Dragon I recall playing one a long time ago with one of those names, was a lot of fun until the site closed.
Hehe. I used to play Legend of the Red Dragon on BBSes about 12-14 years ago... God im old Thanks for the feedback, I'll look for that first one you mentioned.
I've been talking to someone about a Kings Of Chaos script they are selling. It looks really nice and he has done alot of custom modding to fix any bugs and such and add lots of features. He has full rights to it too.
PM me if you're interested. I'll see if he can cut us both a deal if we both buy (like a referal or something).
Anyone happen to find a nice script yet? I'm specifically looking for something that is current, meaning that the developer is actively adding new content/updates.
I really haven't seen anything like this, but I'm hoping someone else can help. I know there are scripts like this out there for other genres (pimp, bands, etc), just hoping someone is doing this for a medieval theme as well.
Well you use to be able to, I can't seem to find one... I had a copy of it but I lost everything, not sure of the legality in using a KOC clone either >.<

There is a script called Gamers-Fusion, which was built of of a game originally called exoFusion, I'm sure someone here remembers these from a while back ? Maybe not, but I did some looking around and found this one guys forums that he tried bringing development back to the game or whatever or some type of community for it..
Of course there's a demo, but as I said PM me! It's not my script to be selling, I was going to refer you to the seller. I wasn't going to post a demo link on this board for something that the owner might not want to sell over here. I was going to refer you directly to him.
But since then, the owner of the script has contacted me and posted right above. The demo I would have shown you in a PM is right in his sig.
That's correct. The koc-clone I started out with can be found by simply googling "koc.zip". But trust me, that script is worthless. I've taken care of all the bugs, and I've added modifications (for ex: players can buy ingame credits with paypal, so my version of the script can earn you money while sleeping!).
Can I break in with a question about RPG's? (good for a bump anyway, right? ) I saw this thread and thought someone could offer me some advice.
I have a domain name call ZRPG.com and I don't know a thing about RPG's. All I know is that they are a type of game. Are they so popular that they really add value to my domain name? Or is RPG not that big of a term. I've been getting decent offers on the name lately, but I don't know if it's because it's a 4-character name or because RPG is in it with a Z in front (sold zsearch.com recently for a good price), or both.
I used to program the IBM AS/400 computer in a language called RPG, but that was many years ago and I'm sure is nearly dead.
Is the KOS basically a cheap knock-off of darkthrone? An addicting game, true, but with Darkthrone out there, what brings folks to your own branded (Not quite as spiffy...imho) game?
Just curious - no flames, please; I'm pleading ignorance, not sarcasm, here.

Wow, that really took me back, it's been 20 years since I've used RPG. At the time I was also using MARK IV, lol.
Thanks for the rpg info in this thread. I own ClashOfSwords dot com and have been looking as well for some sort of rpg system to install there.
***** ALSO: I am looking for a wetsern based RPG, anyone have information about that, please let me know. I have a ozen sites that are cowboy/western related with tons of traffic, and I want to add in a game for them to play.
I strongly advise against a koc-clone, from previous clients hosting them, they overload mysql, has poor code and a lot of server abusive bugs. stay aware!
I'm afraid I can't really point you to a d/l but have you thought of making your own? it can be pretty simple and then it will do what you want?
