| Investing $1000, Need Advice! I am investing $1000 on a new site. I am not sure what domain I am going to use but I have a few ideas in mind. I want you to take a look at the money breakdown. phpCow - $100
vBulletin - $30 (upgrading my vb owned)
Advertising/Text Links- $500
Domains - $70
Available: $300
First I would like to know if the $500 would get get my site good traffic and how much. I have never bought traffic in my life so I would like to know if $500 is good enough. |

| You can find good links without spending that much so $500 should certainly go a long way if used properly. I noticed that in your last sentence you said "bought traffic" and I wasn't sure if this was referring to actually buying traffic or buying links to get traffic. If it's the former, I'd not recommend wasting a dime on buying traffic from these programs. Look for good links with strong PR and good placement in the search engines. |

| yes I wouldn't recommend it either. I tried it many times, millions of bulk visits, thousants of "highly targeted visits" - NOT one sale/signup . No tell me how this is possible. Never buy traffic from these programs - NEVER |

| im not sure why no one else has asked this yet, but what kind of site are you trying to develop?
i agree with the above posts, in that $500 is quite a lot for advertising alone, so hopefully your website wont need that much. depending on what kind of site you're making, a few well placed text links / banners could do wonders.

· #7 | | NamePros Regular | Instead of a massive marketing scheme for $500, why not only spend $250 on it and get $250 worth of prizes for a site competition on the forum section. |
