Yes I know...there's a ton of mobi threads but this one is for showing our developed sites and tips and tricks for those of us developing them.

I just did a mini one page .mobi site using Godaddy's website tonight. Even though they show all these templates in the builder....for the .mobi you must do without. It was pretty easy, though. Please feel free to visit it and let me know how it is on your mobile phone. Thanks!

And remember everybody, you can test the sites using these sources below, also good for people without mobile Internet to get some idea of what these tiny sites look like when viewed on mobile devices.

I used godaddy's website tonight program and it was all automatic (except for making sure the img was small enough) and I had to tweak font sizes etc. I hope to be able to edit in notepad or from scratch soon though. I like doing that for building websites. More control. I think I remember someone on here mentioning how they were working on some templates, which would be fantastic!

And thanks guys for compliments on my newbie .mobi site

DB thanks for posting those links here! They will be a great use.

EDIT: I just checked my site on there DB and I wonder why my logo isn't centered yet it is on the godaddy site and in the preview there? Hmmmmm...plus it looks so much smaller.

OH ok

hopefully in the future that will change! I'd like to be able to access the internet on the go myself and the rates are the reason why I don't.

Glad to see this thread. As I mentioned in one of the other .mobi threads, .mobi really needs developed sites to gain traction.

I like dailyjoke.mobi. One thing, on my treo I only see the logo above the fold, and have to scroll down to see the joke. I actually tried to hand reg that one, but was too late. I ended up getting 10 or so other "daily" .mobi's, and "jokeaday.mobi"

the phone number (of course upon user acceptance and submission) and
send it to a database (could be off .mobi, since .mobi+DB

)
and then you sit in easy chair and send a joke everyday to all those
numbers as sms with a link back to your site and a link to send to their buddies.

Thank you. I would have to make the logo/pic smaller...see if anyone else thinks I should. Good job on your regs! I remember I checked jokeaday.mobi myself and you had already regged it!

I'd be interested in seeing this script. I will search for it tomorrow. I am not sure if I can use it with godaddy's hosting/program etc. though. If it is a simple one I can add to the pages, then maybe so. Not sure what programs I can use with it as yet (the website tonight program.) Maybe I will ask godaddy customer support after I check it out.

I just bought it for 2 months at $4.99 a month to check this all out. You get:

LOTS of good information there for people building sites, including a .mobi template you can use. Just insert logo & text content, and you have a mobi compatible, code compliant site.

If somebody would just take that basic idea... at then modify the background image and color scheme, they could create a nice selection of templates to choose from. In fact, I would pay somebody good money to make some, because I need them for a project of my own.

If you are choosing a host I would consider hostgator because for $9.95 a month you get the ability to add multiple domains, which is a lot cheaper in the end if you have more than a few websites.

GoDaddy issued a press release a few weeks ago saying "Right now, all customers who register their .MOBI domain names through GoDaddy.com get free hosting and a Web site builder"

Why not categorize your jokes? Having multiple joke sections is going to increase the popularity of the site only more by having for instance, Yo mama yokes - Dirty Jokes - and so on...

This is going to give you a good headstart on other joke sites to come

Remember the first ones to arrive are most likely the ones that will be the most popular

Well guys certainly not .mobi domains as i am not a great fan of them, but its good to see some more people like me who think internet on mobile has some future.
