![]() | CD Won't Copy A client of mine wants clips of his CD to play on the site I am building for him. The CD was recorded at a concert. The clips are in .cda format. 1. First I tried to copy the CD onto another CD. I got the message that there wasn't enough room. I know this is not true because this was a new CD with plenty of room. I never get problems like this when trying to copy CDs onto other CDs. 2. I then tried to copy the CD onto my harddrive. That seemed to work. However, when I then attempted to play any of the songs off my harddrive (with Windows Media Player), I got an error message that the song is not in a proper format. When I attempted to play the exact same songs off the original CD, with the same software, they played fine. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/website-development/17850-cd-wont-copy.html I do not know what to do. Solutions welcome. Also, any suggestions as to forums more suitable for this question are welcome. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | As it is your friends CD recorded at a concert I take it that it he holds the copyright to it and made the original so copy protection shouldn't feature into the equation. If that is the case, it could be how you are ripping the CD onto your harddrive. Try a program such as cdex (search on cnet.com)which will convert into most formats and make the file a more bandwidth friendly size as well. If copyprotection is a factor, ie, it is just a bought CD that was recorded at a concert, then it is likely that there will be copyprotection installed on the cd in which case I have no idea where or how to help you. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | There's more to the process than copying .cda files from an audio CD. Those .CDA files are not intended to be copied from the CD. Rather you need a ripping program like benson mentioned. MusicMatch is a popular software program that does this. You can rip the songs into a .MP3 or .WAV format usually. MP3 is better because its smaller and easier to deal with. There are ways to stream MP3 from a website, but a better option may be to convert it to RealAudio or have a Flash movie created that inclues some of the music. There may be folks on :sitename: that are more familiar with this process than I that can help, or maybe share a link that explains it further. |
