· #1 | | NamePros Member | Buttons, Buttons, So Many Buttons???
I have this web site that I would really like to replace the buttons with sub menu buttons. I have a sample of buttons in mind, but they work in mozilla just fine. Its when I check the site out in Internet Explorer is when I can't see anything. On Internet Explorer it shows a pop up window with the message:
Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site file "blah blah blah...."
Operation aborted
The buttons I use now work fine, I just don't like them. The other buttons I like take up less space than the others. I was wondering is there any way to get the buttons I like to work together in Internet explorer or if else can someone tell me where I can get/make a three to four vertical layer menu buttons for free.
The site that has the buttons I don't like is: "The Web Site"
The buttons I would like to work is well.... the name of the link is hidden. If you go to the bottom of the site listed above, just after Completion Ceremony Pictures. There will be another link called "index change sample" it will highlight. Sorry I've hid the link. Its an example, but I'll have it taken off later on my site. People who have firefox can view the site with ease.
I guess you can think of it as an egg hunt I suppose.
I would tell you what site I got the buttons I like, but don't want to take the chance of being banned, if at all I'm not suppose to say the name.
Anyone reading this Thank You |

| wow can you say anything other than JAVASCRIPT?
no offense, but that is a LOT of javascript, and it can get especially annoying to those with slow computers/internet.
you said this is an "egg hunt", but i dont see what we're looking for. is it the answer to why it doesnt work on IE?
some suggestions, though. Try to ease up on the javascript, especially since some people have javascript blocked so theyll just get a LOT of pop ups. also, i wud suggest putting a blank space between the header image the and date box, just looks better.
sorry i dont have any clue what the problem in IE is, but good luck with the site. |

· #4 | | NamePros Member | well lets see if this works The Web Site
This site contains the buttons I like (a whole lot better)
I hope that makes everything a little easier. I'd say the reasons being is its distorted because:
1. I made the site with notepad in a Mozilla Browser
2. I designed the site using my screen resolution of 1024 x 768
Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused anyone. |

· #5 | | NamePros Member | If this helps, if any. Can someone tell me where I can find a descent four layer (button) menu drop down, because the ones I like will only work in Mozilla, but not in Internet Explorer. I figured that if I can find another, I could try to copy the code, which did not work with the buttons I like. They worked in Mozilla just fine, however, not in Internet Exploer. I just need to find drop down menu buttons (in four layers) that doesn't fight with Mozilla and Internet Explorer browsers.
If anyone knows where I can find some descent buttons for free as described above, thank you soo much. I appreciate the help offered.
The menu buttons I would like to find are someting along the line as on this page. The Web Page
Again thank you for your time and patience, and as well I give you my gratitude. |

· #6 | | NamePros Member | well, it gives me errors in IE.
I went down this road a couple of years back, if you check out my site, you will see that the javascript buttons I used work fine in IE etc. I cant remember where I got the script from, but here is some info from my view source file.
My site: www.kool-breeze.net/about
the guys info is:
// Menu 990702
// by gary smith, July 1997
might be worth a google.
note, it takes a lot of fiddling about with and when ever you change or add a page, it can become a real pain to update things.
In my opinion, you would be better off to use the button scripts that come with your webeditor. I cant comment on what other people use, but I use namo webeditor (priced similar to MS Front page) and it has many good buttons, including thier own smart buttons (see my site www.autoxfactor.com still under construction) as well as flash buttons.
hope this gives you some pointers
