create a different type of search engine

well its sort of a search engine that i want to make, heres the details;
i want to create a search egnine where you input what your looking for(ex. car dealer, sea food restaurant, etc.) and then you input your postal code, right now i would only have to make it work for american and canadian postal codes, and then it comes up with all of the possibilitys close to your adress, also i want it so that when you click on the link it would take you to a specific page for that company, and on that page it would have the places adress, its phone numbers, and the description of it..heres an example; you want to have order out for supper, but your not sure of a place around where your at, so you would input the type of restaurant or w.e your looking for and then you get a list of all the buildings, in like a .5 KM range of your house, you click on it, then it comes to the companys specific page and it would show all the details of the place, and the pricing of it's main products(only one or two), and then when you click on the companys title, if they have a website it would go to it.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/website-development/136133-create-a-different-type-search-engine.html
the only problem is, i have no idea how to do this, and i need to know if its a good concept or not.so please post if you have any idea on how to do this, as i am hoping to actually make this, and i need some help if i do go through with it.

Thanks for your time,
Commes

nah, it wouldnt be like locals that much, cuz with locals, it doesnt give you any details, it just gives you the link to the website, and if the company doesnt have a website, it doesnt come up and for it to be displayed in locals, it has to be submitted to locals.mine would be different as if the company doesnt have a website, you can still get the details on the company.hope this is making sence to you guys

I'm almost finished with a script that does much of what you described.
You can see a demo at www.phplinkdirectory.com/phpLD/
It should be ready in 2-7 days if all goes well.
