banners= high quality gifs/ jpg.

Gifs lose quality and I dont like that in a banner that is nice and spiffy. if you adjus the diffusion and dither plus give it a 256k color setting you should do fine. The higher the quality the bigger the size. THis means slower loading time.

You have to choose high quality or fast loading.

I guess it depends on what you are going to use the graphic for.

If your going to put it on a shirt, real hanging banner, billboards ect... i believe you'd want a .psd file. Anything for print needs to be .psd.

Any pics of people, places for web should be jpg.

Everything else can be gif.

I prefer most of my work in jpg. Its comes out larger in size pixels than gifs but i find its easier to manipulate and looks better IMO.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/website-development/12326-grafix-export-format.html

The problem with gifs and jpgs is that once they are saved and the file is closed, your stuck with what you got. The layers you created wont be usable.

However, if you just send someone a .psd file all the layers are entact and it can be altered easier.

Hope that helps someone out.

If its just for forums then your best bet would probably be a gif or png while keeping size lower then jpgs but keeping some quality... You won't loose a lot of quality and you wont be able to tell the difference most likely if you choose good colors.

jpg and jpeg and jpe are all the same file types. Basically just different extensions!

I think everyone will agree with me when I say that bmps are not going to be a format you would want to use.

They are bitmaps. They are going to be lower quality usually than other file types. If I remember correctly They use less colors? But I could be wrong on that one.

Depends on the business and use of the work you do.

For online imagery, such as banners and logo's .gif is usualy the best format. For photos and such .jpg is better.

.gif is best for pixel and low coloured graphics.

However, if your doing professioanl business work for companies that will expand their idenity to t-shirts and signage (advertising) etc, then .cdr and .ai files are recommened. (I know this, because I work in this line of design work.)

.psd won't work for all t-shirt printing, not that it matters too much because it'll still have to be 'traced' into a format which will allow the graphic to be sent to the printer, as far as I know.
