thought i would post in here and see what you'll thought.

I'm looking for a dedicated server to rent, on a yearly basis. My budget is around $750-800 for the year.

I need 10 IP's (min)
Redhat
Root Access
40-60gig of space
1.7amd+
SQL

Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi SY4,

Too be honest I would be careful of leasing any server at that sort of price ( the servers I lease for our business range from $2400 to $4200 a year ).

I have looked at cheaper options ( and even tried a few ) but was never happy with the results.

Depending on your need it might be better to look for a virtual server, although if you are looking at writing your own interface and do not need it to be ultra reliable ( not hosting anyone elses site ) and don't mind some downtime / slow tech support / slow connection you might be able to find one in your price bracket.

Did consider getting one of the cheap servers through them a while back just to work on an interface I wanted to design, but decided to set up my own box instead.

Can't really beat the price, but as I say I would not use any of them for mission critical sites / scripts

I've been lookinga t a couple, and one has come in at about that price.

The problem is, some people I know swear by them, and others hate them. I think it's generally like that accross the board.

I would consider sharing a dedicated server, but the main issue is the "no need for ensim or cpanel". We are not to concerned about the tech support side, and not hosting any large clients or such. We also need to run 2 nameservers on it for DNS routing and scripting....hence the need to a physical dediacted server.

Best uk Price i have so far is £800

I have to recommend ev1 (formerly rackshack) been with them 5 months.. problem is for the p4 I have it's about $1200 a year. I have plenty of space so if you'd like to try it out for a while to see how it is I can put you on my server for a little while
