I wouldn't tell the school. Let people talk about whatever they want without being censored.

Yes, go ahead and ask if you can feature it in the newsletter. You'll get free advertising and more members!

The students probably might, but I don't think the teachers would. You might want to hide the "What teachers do you hate" topic when they review your forum.

On one hand, you could say its none of your school's business. But the advertising could be good. Becareful what gets written about teachers on your board, because you could come into some legal trouble because of slander/lible (I never know which is which).

I would ask the people who produce the newsletter if you could put an ad in, not the school directly. The school may approve and help you advertise it though.

Your choice!

I have a couple of questions..

- Do you think this is a good idea?

- Do you think i should tell the school about it and ask if i can feature it in the newsletter?

- Do you think the School would support a site like this?

OR

- Do you think I shouldn't tell the school about it and let the students talk about whatever they want and talk about all the teachers they hate, etc.

Thanks in advance!

what you could do is have a signup screen that says student or teacher also make it reuire an email address from your school @trinitycollege.sch or whatever then have it so students have a part teachers have a aprt and there is also a part which everyone can read so you can ask teachers questions in confidence or have it so students can ask questions about work or anything related with school and they can keep their identity a secret through their username

Put adverts on the site and earn money through that way. Also if the school is likely to be annoyed then you shouldn't tell them and just rely on word-of-mouth but if it is likely they would encourage it then tell them and try and get some free advertising for the forums.

i was considering making a site similar to this but more than a forum, a students site for the school

leamanor .net or something, they got leamanor.org i was thinking but then decided no, but might do when i have time its a good idea i think but i bit time consuming for a school website really, Best of luck to you.

Schools monitor the websites that students visit... that is why you have to be careful that they don't block the site. Which is what they will do if they notice it getting too popular and taking too much IT lesson time.

great idea for a site, hope all goes well with it, even if the forum was to be blocked in the school - if the members really liked it they would access it from home or library depending on which suited them the most.

What is your name? What class are you in?

Anyways, regarding the state of TCC Forum, it has been closed and terminated at the request of the deputy principal and server administrator at our school. We got into trouble for:

- Using the Colleges crest
- Misrepresentation of the College
- Abusive comments towards teachers
- The risk of pedafiles coming to the forum and abducting TCC students
- Our school also received complaints through the phone for concerned parents seeing profanity throughout the forum

I sure do hope I don't get suspended or anything, but, I've surely learnt my lesson.

Some lessons i've learnt are:
- If I plan to use copyrighted images in my site/forum, I should include a copyright notice letting people know that the images are copyright of my school.
- I should have clearly stated that the TCC Forum is not associated nor partnered with the school in any way!
- I should have made proper rules to protect the students, the admins and the college.
For example:
We should have included rules that we are not responsible for the comments that people decide to post, etc.
- If I ever plan to start another school forum, we should clearly let the students know of the problems they may encounter while using the forum, such as the possibility to be abducted by a pedafile posing as a student.

I've learnt a valuable lesson from this and thanks to what happened, I will gain more experience and definitely learn from my wrong doings.

If I would've done most of the things stated above, the TCC Forum would probably still be operating right now It's a shame that it got shut down, it had alot of potential and I had really big plans for it
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=115491

Nevertheless, I'm glad about the fact that the Deputy Principal and Network Administrator know that me and my friend had no bad intentions towards the creation and promotion of the TCC Forum.

They're also angry of the fact that the word "TCC" is in the domain name. According to IP Australia, the trademark to the word "TCC" does not belong to Trinity Catholic College

Besides, I'm not using the site to compete with my schools website, but merely to create a forum for the students that attend the college.

Whatever the college decides to do in this situation, I sincerely respect their decision

Name - its a name, Class- its in year 11-5 and darn >_< As for the tcc bit, indeed, it is ridiculous. For one, you own the domain, and i suppose the logo is a problem, but if the site isn't there, it shouldn't mean anything, and yea, without the profane parts, it'd be a good site.
