I need more clients

I've just had a website face lift and i need more clients, does anybody know how i would get more clients to sign up, any help on this would be exellent.

I know what you mean. I have recently started a business that does web design graphics and 3D modeling/animation. Ive got a big job making an animation of a building a client built. I plan to advertise after I finish this job and finish a couple web designing jobs so that I have up a nice portfolio on my site. Im going to start advertising locally.

I agree that you should build a portfolio and then put that on the site before you start your advertising. This way many people can see your accomplishments and see exactly what you have done. There will be no question as to what talent you posess.

For a start, make your prices in £.

You own a .co.uk, yet prices are in $, I find that strange..

i was thinking the same thing when reading it.

also, check out the competition - $2.95 can get you a lot more on somewhere like www.xstreamhost.com - the best advertisement is word of mouth. if you're providing a great product with a great price it will soon spread.

You make a really nice deal available to 10 people for example.
That will bring people along and if they like your service from there is from ear to ear work If they like your service and support.
But you still need to advertise.

Give a lot of people a great deal, one they can't turn down even if your service is a little under what they expect. Then you can set rates higher in the future for others if the word gets out. You can also offer great deals like cut down on rates for extended amounts of time or even maybe a couple week trial for speed and what have you. Advertise it with something like FREE TWO WEEKS or something catchy to the readers eye. Advertise it on places someone is likely to go that is interested in it.

Well I think the first step in building a suceessful design business is to create a portfolio. Try to get as many diverse things that you can, so people see your wide range of talent. I think another good way to advertise is to do some free work on a forum. For example, if you do some free work here at NamePros, and it is quality work, then when people post a thread asking for advice about a graphic designer, people will recommend you. I think most work in the graphic design business is referred by word of mouth, so just getting your name out there is very important. Remember, its going to be tough in the beginning, and most likely not very profitable, but it will all be worth it in the long run, if you play your cards right. Good luck!

Yeah designers are definately high on the ratings for what people are looking for. There are how many people registered to this forum. You get the free stuff and people will adore you. Then when you start out and aren't as well known offer lower bids than competitors of equal or lesser value. People are always looking for a deal especially when it comes to their sites.

Well you don't always start with a huge amount of space so you can't really start it off by trying to beat competitors.
But you try and make the best prices you can and offer good support.
Help clients in anyway you can.
They will tell friends about the great service and his friend will tell another and so on.
but you still need some advertising

I also recommend setting up a Google Adwords campaign, http://www.google.com/adwords, and bidding on a few niche keywords.

Yeah you could keep portfolios with the users names that way when the friends come you go oh so and so, here is his/hers. That way it is more customized and you get to know your client even better. Heck, they might be even willing to pay more.
