Contact your hosting provider's support department - they should be able to help you out

Do you want to assign your IP with your nameservers or you want to use your IP instead of domain name in URL?

@maximum: thanks but i know how to install dedicated ip.

@XeHSean: my hosting provider is very busy i guess. they give answer minimum in two-three business days so, probably they want to say "do ur business by urself".

@WebIntellects - Rob: bingo!! i want to assign my dedicated ip with nameservers. i installed d-park script on my shared dotster hosting and configured for a main domain. so it works for the main domain. now i have to point the other domains to my dedicated ip instead of dotster dns. do you have any idea how to do that??

You should know the name servers for the account and to point the domain names to those DNS.

2-3 business days? Erm, I'd move hosts first and foremost.

Anywhoo, what do you mean by "and it doesn't work when i point my domains to the shared hosting"? What doesn't work? Do you get an error?

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=669129

All that I meant, I have to point a few domains to a dedicated ip instead of shared dotster name servers..

You don't need to change the nameservers if you've got a new IP (or you should need to)

It's usually a case that your host - once you purchase the dedicated IP - will changes things on their end and you won't need to adjust anything.

Are you sure you're domain(s) are still resolving to the old IP?

I agree. In this situation that would be much better to get in touch with your current web hosting provider and ask them for a help.

You need to create custom nameservers at your domain registrar.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=669129

For instance if your domain is example.com you want to create (register) ns1.example.com and ns2.example.com as your custom nameservers for that domain. When you create these nameservers it will ask you for the IP.

Btw, different nameservers of different domains can use the same IP. In other words if your hosting provider has given you their regular IP addresses (they usually do) you can use these IP addresses to register your own custom nameservers at your domain registrar. This means you didn't need to buy an IP address to use custom nameservers.

I don't know what your domain registrar is. They all work slightly different. Here is a video from namecheap:

Is that okay with you? In my opinion, response times that slow are simply unacceptable

Definitely a good idea - most providers today offer response time guarantees significantly faster than what you are receiving now

Absolutely that should be unacceptable! Average response times from my company is 30 minutes, there are hosts out there that are even around 5-15 minutes!
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=669129

Anything over a day is completely unacceptable, i would switch hosts ASAP.

Say your site goes down tomorrow...do you have to wait 4 days to get it back up? That is what's unacceptable.

I think you can ask your new web hosting provider to help you with moving. I'm sure they will not refuse to help you.

Some of them might ask to pay additional fee for transfer.
