Setting up VPS

Hi everyone,
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/web-hosting-discussion/645974-setting-up-vps.html

I am currently hosting my 2 websites with 3ix.org a reseller I believe/rosehost.
The thing about them was cheap hosting/shared plan. And I wanted to test them out, which I did, and have gotten alot of down time and support issues in the past 2 years.

I think its time I am going to a cheap VPS service, an upgrade from a shared hosting plan at another company.

I am not a programmer, but know some code (just a bit)
So how hard is it to set up the VPS ?

I am looking at this cheap VPS company. Cheap VPS Hosting, Cheap Windows VPS Hosting, Cheapest $10 Windows VPS

Its an upgrade from my shared hosting. So hopefully in the future, I will need to upgrade to dedicated server (hopefully that day will come fast).

So any advice?
How hard would it take to set up?
What are maintenance things I should know about VPS?

Many thanks..

Setting up a VPS isn't too hard. If you go with a managed provider they should setup the OS and cPanel for you.

and if both your old and new host both use cpanel/whm, then it will be a relatively easy process to migrate your sites over.

I'd recommend that you stick with a managed VPS provider as they will be able to help you with setup and other administration tasks

With a managed VPS you can't do much wrong but I don't know why you would continue with the cheapest options; though I've never heard about the provider you mention I suggest to test drive them beforehand.

Web hosting company will setup server for you. As rule that is included in the price of VPS server. Good luck

Your webhost should help you with account migration from shared to VPS provided you have same hosting platform and control panel at both host ( Old and New host ) and you have opt for managed hosting services.
Almost all webhost offer managed hosting as an additional service !
Before placing order with any webhost just do your home work... if they have any active community forum which may help you to take decision.
Take suggestion of webmasters from other hosting forums for your preferred webhost !
All the Best
