Can we host unlimited sites in Hostgator?

I have a baby pack and it says that we can host unlimited sites in it.

Is that right? Or is there any limit?

If they says so you can use add on domain feature to host multiple sites. That is quite usual to offer unlimited domain hosting feature. If you won't go beyond the other limits like space and band width there won't be any problem. In case of hostgator they offers unlimited features. So it seems if you you are with in their CPU/RAM limits you are safe to host a number of sites.

Yea what was said above me. You can host as many domains as you want within your limits such as bandwith and disk space etc.

Perhaps you should ask HostGator directly. I'm sure you'll get the most accurate answer that way

I think you can but only in theory. Unlimited domain names and sites means that provider allows you to upload and make work as many sites as you like, but after certain amount of resources being used your account would be suspended (welcome, this is Hostgator!) fro resource overyusage. And even if it won't the sites would one day stop working fast enough. You need a bigger plan from better host to host many sites on shared account.

There's always a limit, but they put no "soft"/"arbitrary" limit. Your real life limitation will depend on your type of site (pure HTML vs PHP based vs database reliant etc) and traffic patterns (if all your daily visitors arrive at your site within a 10 minutes period, the spike may be large enough to cause issues).

Even with a host that has limits put on everything, if your usage leads to server overloading and performance starts to degrade for other customers, they will act. It's just how things are in a shared hosting environment. AFAIK Hostgator places 200-300 accounts per server, which should give you a perspective on the situation.

Read the terms of service carefully, with any host.

HI

if you come to the point where they contact you and say you are using to much resources for your account plan you can always upgrade to the next level as they are cheap.

Thx
Tom

Yeah, they are one of best hosts in the price range they offer.
But these days, most shared hosts oversell and offer unlimited everything. Unlimited, untill you actually start consuming lots of resources Obviously there are going to be resrtictions based on CPU usage etc. which hosts use against heavy users.

I believe you can host unlimited sites if you don't over use their cpu and memory. They shut down one of my site when it has 2000 to 3000 unique per day, but still not bad for shared hosting compare to other shared hosting.

Gator seems nice, I'm looking for a reseller account, and I did not read anything bad about them! Still, it's an important decision to make! Will keep on searching for suggestions!
Thanks!

Absolutely and if HG offers unlimited domain names on the account that doesn't mean they are oversellers or something like that

Right, but if they promise unlimited /insane amount of space and bandwidth - they are oversellers. Actually they are oversellers, still one of the better companies to host with.
