Webhostarmy WTF

I signed up with this company webhostarmy for about 4 months now havent really had any problems until recently.For the past 2 days there site is down along with 3 of my sites and i havent heard anything from them .Tried getting in touch with the support department but all emails bounce back.

Does anybody have any info on what i should do and how can i get my information so i can tarnsfer it to another hosting company ?

There's not much you can do in that case. Have you tried looking up their domain's whois and see what contact information they have there? Sometimes they have a phone number listed that you may be able to reach them at.

Your best bet is just to hope that the server comes back online, and you take a full backup of your content and then transfer to a new host if they do not provide a reasonable reason for the downtime.

Your emails are probably coming back because the server is unable to access their server to accept the incoming emails. You will have to wait for the server to come back online to send the emails.

Just like hastyhost said, you should backup all your data (files, mysql, emails) once the server goes back online.

hastyhost is right, but at the same time in the most cases you are not able to reach them by phone.

The website is still down ,the telephone number that i got is disconnected .This really sucks .

This company is obviously run from the owner's basement. Totally at the mercy of the weather and whatever problems the owner faces.

Yes, you get cheapest prices from them, but, you get the problems linked with cheap shared server hosting.

I was thinking of relying on them for a project, but it's near impossible.

P.S. I did a little research and I found out why the server is down - they were probably hit hard by one of the porn websites that shares space on their system. Porn web hosts are REQUIRED BY LAW to obtain all the 18 U.S.C. 2257 documentation their client websites hold, in a duplicate method to make sure all of the actors/actresses are 18 years of age.

One slip, and WHAMMO, the whole place gets shut down and all the computer records are sent to the Feds.

It happened once in January, and they were let off with a warning. Ths time it's a full-on court action, all paid for by the web host owner.

If you have backups just move to another host. If not - everything you can is waiting. But you can call their DC as well. Perhaps that will spotlight the situation somehow for you
