iFast Hosting is an unknown quantity at this point

Hello-

This is really going to depend on the size of your forums. If the forum gets to large you will want to look into VPS or Dedicated hosting as no shared provider will be able to handle it.

I dont see why in the beginning that either one of those host should not be able to handle your needs.

Good luck picking a host!

This might help you make your decision, contains quite a number of reviews on both companies, positive + negative:

Hope that helps!

i got my last host because of reviews based on that site and well, even though they were ranked high, i dont really like them anymore

slow initial first page load and sometimes it fails to connect to the DB (its rare maybe 1 out of 5000 times, but thats still too many times)

Well, that's going to be a byproduct of the level of hosting that they provide. Companies like Dreamhost and Globat oversell to a very large degree. This means you'll be stuck on the server with hundreds (or even sometimes thousands) of people who all think they have the same amount of resources that you have. This can have a major influence on page load times and errors. Quite often, you can examine the fine print in the TOS/AUP policies and come across the clause where they limit what percentage of server resources you can use. I'm not trying to bad mouth another host because each host has its own specific high and low points, but this is a reality.

My advice is to lower your expectations and shoot for better quality. Forums are not quite the bandwidth and space hogs that people make them out to be. My advice is to go somewhere that you can move up the totem poll so to speak. There are plenty of providers here at NP that you'd be happy with, or you can do your research elsewhere.

Hate to be that guy with the "negative" thoughts, but I noticed that Knownhost considers themselves a "semi-managed" VPS provider. Are you familiar with managing servers since all they do is install the hardware you desire? I just say so because it's a rough world out there and things sometimes happen; to protect yourself you absolutely must know what you are doing as far as keeping updated and secure.
