Newbie question

If you buy hosting and use a particular domain name, is it possible to then change the name to another ?

Do you mean change your hosting provider and have your domain name point to the new webhost?

If your speaking abot changing a domain name ro another, than no it's impossible. You will have to buy a new one.

If you mean changing host than yes, very easy, just point your domain to the host's nameservers.

I should have been more specific, I meant is it possible to say, place another domain name in place of the name you purchased the hosting for

Yes, but either way you need to contact your host so that they update their DNS servers. They just need to know the new hostname that you want to use, and the registrar needs to know the hoster's DNS servers.

Most hosts should be able to do this (as far as switching out account domains).
