You will have to buy a new one. I should have been more specific, I meant is it possible to say, place another domain name in place of the name you purchased the hosting for

Yes, but either way you need to contact your host so that they update their DNS servers. They just need to know the new hostname that you want to use, and the registrar needs to know the hoster's DNS servers.
