Okay - here is the deal . . . I will admit the following:
1. I don't have a website now and I never even attempted to create one or buy one before
2. I have quite successfully ignored all discussions on the topic of website and hosting until now (which had been harder than you realize)

Here is what I need:

A. A website - simple, corporate looking with 3-5 pages of basic text, a "get more info" fill in type form and maybe the ability to link some .pdf files for download
B. Hosting of the above site

Here is what I have:

Very limited resources (i.e., money)

Any suggestions or offers?

yeah, buy the name for $6-$8. grab some hosting for a few bucks per annum. Write the text yourself and then come back when this is done and someone here will slap it up for you.....

All depends really on what exactly it is that you want, what reason it is you want the site for, what you are hoping to achieve and how much effort will be involved??

Thanks for the feedback - I envision that the site is really just a marketing piece that is available for viewing and to learn a little more about my company - I don't think (from a non-tech perspective) that it will need more more that 3-5 pages that explain what I do and offer ways to contact me.

So you suggest, buying the name and then putting the text in place . . . then asking for someone to put this together into a design - then find a host?

Personally, if this is support to your main source of income, you might wanna think carefully about image and perception before setting out on a shoe string budget..... What say you in terms of ball park budget?

Because, cheap project cost could be $30.... More money might be well spent. Imho, i wouldnt go for a bespoke package, buy the name you want or go ask in the domains wanted forum here for names that resemble the area of business you are in (and ask for prices), ask in the hosting forum as to where the cheapest hosting can be gained and then find someone to put it all together...

One word of advice though, go for help that is independant.. You will get many offers of help but i find the best is generally that where the assistee doesnt have an avid interest in the deal... Not always but you know what i mean.... Most members in this forum can resell you a domain and provide hosting but we are all (with exception) resellers of someone elses product..

Once again - I really appreciate the feedback and the offers.
I am trying to put together some text about my compnay and what it offers, etc in order to get an idea of what functionality I need from the site and how many pages it will be.

When this is done, I expect to follow up on the hosting issue - just wait till I start asking y'all about that . . . at least I had seen a website and have an idea of what I want!
